ROUVY App Update 3.10: Virtual Shifting and More!

Rouvy Adds Virtual Shifting

Hey Muckers! Get ready to fire up your trainers, because Rouvy just dropped a game-changing update! We’re talking Zwift Cog and Virtual Shifting integration, plus some other seriously cool additions to enhance our virtual riding experience. Let’s dive in!

The Big News: Zwift Cog and Virtual Shifting Arrive on Rouvy!

This is what we’ve all been waiting for. Rouvy has officially welcomed Zwift’s innovative Zwift Cog and Virtual Shifting tech. This is huge for simplifying our setups and ramping up the realism of our indoor rides.

What’s the Deal with Zwift Cog?

Think of the Zwift Cog as a single-speed conversion kit for your smart trainer. It replaces your bike’s cassette, making it a breeze to switch bikes on the trainer without messing around with gears. This is a lifesaver, especially for us Muckers who juggle multiple bikes or share a trainer with family or teammates.

And Virtual Shifting?

Virtual Shifting lets you change gears electronically without actually moving the chain. It cleverly adjusts the trainer’s resistance to mimic the feel of different gears. You control it with a compatible device, making for a smooth and seamless shifting experience. The best part? You don’t even need the Zwift Cog for this – your regular cassette will work just fine!

Why This Matters for Rouvy Riders

Up until now, Zwift Cog and Virtual Shifting were exclusive to the Zwift platform. Rouvy’s adoption of this technology is a major win for us Rouvy enthusiasts. We can now enjoy the same streamlined setup and enhanced riding experience while exploring Rouvy’s fantastic augmented reality courses. It’s a win-win!

The Perks: What You Gain

Compared to a traditional cassette setup, Zwift Cog and Virtual Shifting offer some serious advantages:

  • Effortless Setup: No more cassette swapping headaches!
  • Enhanced Realism: Smooth, silent gear changes, less wear and tear on your drivetrain, and a more immersive ride.
  • Ultimate Versatility: Works with a wide range of bikes and trainers, so your setup is future-proof.
  • Expanded Gear Options: 24 virtual gears on Rouvy to conquer any climb or sprint.
  • Drivetrain Longevity: Reduced wear and tear on your chain, cassette, and derailleurs.
  • On-the-Fly Shifting: Seamlessly shift gears even when you’re pedaling hard or come to a stop.

Gearing Up: What You’ll Need

To get Zwift Cog and Virtual Shifting working on Rouvy, make sure you have the following:

  • Trainers: Check the Zwift compatibility list, but certain Wahoo models (like the Kickr v6, Kickr Move Gen 6, and Kickr Core) are good to go. Older Kickr versions are unfortunately not compatible.
  • Controllers: You’ll need a Zwift Click or Zwift Ride. Zwift Play is not currently supported on Rouvy.
  • The Zwift Cog: Optional, but it simplifies things considerably.

But Wait, There’s More!

Rouvy didn’t stop at just Zwift Cog and Virtual Shifting. They’ve also been busy adding some awesome new bikes to their virtual garage! We’re talking Ribble bikes, including the sleek Ultra SL R. More bikes mean more choices, which means more fun customizing our virtual rides.

The Bottom Line

Rouvy’s latest update is a huge leap forward. The integration of Zwift Cog and Virtual Shifting, along with the new bike additions, makes Rouvy an even more attractive platform for indoor cycling. So, what are your thoughts, Muckers? Have you tried it out yet? Let’s discuss in the comments below!

Kyle is a digital writer for MuckersWorldwide.com I've been out riding all over Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire for the last 12 years. It is mainly to keep fit as I love food and would be 16st if I didn't ride my bike at least 3 times a week. This leads me to Muckers Worldwide, as when the weather is un-rideable (fair weather cyclist) I move indoors to cycle on Rouvy. We have a large group of races that we race throughout winter in the UK. Hope you come and join us on a Tuesday & Thursday title of the races are "Muckers". Thanks, Kyle

After updating Rouvy yesterday I jumped onto the Muckers Championship Race and found out my bike was stuck in 13th gear even though I didn’t having virtual shifting setup on my Wahoo.Kickr Core. I am not going to have to down grade. Sorry Rouvy.

I’m also on a Kickr Core. Saw the “Gear 13” note at the top left of the screen, but shifting and power seemed normal. It’s always a good idea to check that your trainer is still connected properly after every update. Trainer should be connected *and* Controllable should be connected. Some folk are sporadically and unpredictably disconnected during an update, apparently. If there are glitches, try disconnecting and reconnecting your setup. Check the Rouvy Facebook group too. If there are update issues, folk will let it be known here!
