Muckersworldwide.com Sunday big race. 12/03/23

Rouvy Route used: Alcudia Sa Calobra | Mallorca | 27.78 miles | 4041.99 ft climbing

Route 2 from the READY for SEASON??? | MEDIUM Challenge.

28 registered | 11 finishers | 3 dnf | 14 dns

Totally selfishly I’d arranged this for 10am on A Sunday morning due to it being my birthday yesterday and didn’t think I’d be able to get up and be ready for the usual 9am Sunday morning start time… I was right, but 10am was also impossible for me to get to as well. 🀨

14 of my fellow ( and much better than me ) riders were ready at the start for this race, which has a really nice first half, followed by a second half of around 3500ft of climbing!

Dok_PS” won this race in a superb time of 1 hour and 43 minutes, with “Wojtas666” only 2 minutes and 41 seconds behind. 3rd was “uffzynda” which was a surprise as he had reported after Thursdays race he was probably going to rest this weekend, but finished really strongly to take the bronze.

4th was “Feile” with a 1 hour 52 time, followed in 5th by new Muckersworldwide team rider “S.Ludford” who leaded team mate and fellow British rider “Lyndon65” in 6th. Superb effort guys and both under the 2 hour mark!

7th came “ogee” , 8th our very own “Shrek-1970-Challenger” , 9th “Jos60” and rounding out the top 10 came “TomaszMaczka” .

Normally i only mention the top 10 , but we had 11 finishers today and 11th place deserves a mention as 3 riders gave up on this and he didn’t. So well done to “Ratzi” for not giving up and completed the route.

Well done everyone as this was a long ride and quite a relentless slog once you hit the hill section.

I managed to pop on and watch a little of this race this morning and within the first 10 minutes it looked like 1st and 2nd were sorted with the R3 guy and uffzynda, but 3rd pace was all to play for! looks like R3 dropped out, and Dok put in a great effort to claw back uffzynda’s advantage to take the win. I did this route yesterday as I just knew I wasn’t going to get on it today and my time of 2 hours and 16 minutes would have been good for 12th today…. last yes, but 12th! πŸ˜† well done everyone.

Thanks Neil, looking forward to joining in on these races. At 99kg I’m no mountain goat so the flatter the better for me generally. Not knowing any names I tried to work with various riders before deciding to push on or, in the case of ‘Feile’, I just couldn’t hold on. I would have probably been outside 2 hours but for the relentless pressure provided by ‘Lyndon65’ – so thank you whoever you are, although a HR of 173 can’t be good for a 56yr old. Well done everyone, a tough route.

Steven, knowing how Rouvy Really punishes us heavier riders, that’s all the more impressive a result! Lyndon is a really strong rider and I’ve been dropped many a time by him on the races so I know what a great result that was keeping in front of him as well!

The Routes kinda dictate themselves as my main reason for the route i use is based on Rouvy challenges. so Make sure you’re signed up for them all and if you do all my races, you will finish pretty much all the challenges they release.

cheers again for taking the time to comment and well done on todays race.

Hi Neil, I hope you had a nice birthday party yesterday!
Maybe we both should have left the last glass of wine out, because I didn’t feel so comfortable this morning, too. πŸ˜‰
Although I didn’t plan to start at all for the Sunday race, because I was still too exhausted from the last 6 Rouvy tours (not only the Thu race!), I tried out a new doping method with a big potato soup 30 min. before the race started and it worked! I was quite strong during the first 15 min on P2, but I noticed 2 extremely fast riders chasing me, coming closer and closer. Unfortunately, the potato soup reached its limits and so we (the soup and me) let kindly ride by the later winner “Dok_PS”, who funnily wore the same jersey as I do….from the French Alps challenge last December! We were circling around and supporting each other nicely for a while, but the time came that “Doc” was apparently getting bored with the circling technique and disappeared on the horizon πŸ™‚

My potato soup doping turned out into the opposite now, or in other words, the soup decided to chose its own way (not very appetizing I have to admit ;-)). I was really toasted by that time and close to a heart attack, the potatoes weren’t helpful any longer πŸ˜‰ So I gave “Woytas666” a chance to calmly overtake me as well and I could do nothing against it. I was quite surprised that I could hold on after he gained a few 100 meters ahead, the distance didn’t substantially increase further. All well done, congrats to everyone! It was fun to race with you guys again!

Had a great birthday night thank you! and now just had a nice chuckle reading the potato soup story, very entertaining!! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment, we really appreciate it and hopefully see you for the 2 events on Tuesday.

Hi all, top route today enjoyed it even though it was a hard ride. Struggled at the start as I seem to not be able to go down the hills as quickly as my colleagues. So I had to chase going up, had a good old battle with Steven Ludford and just could not catch him i was on is tail but he left me on the down sections but thank you for pushing me. See you on the next race 😁. We’ll done to everyone and thanks again Neil for a top event

    • Neil Rushby says:

Well done Lyndon. All you need sometimes is just 1 rider that’s around you and you have a focus for the whole race don’t you. thanks for commenting and hopefully see on Tuesday.

Hola amigos! I had a simply tactic for this race. Finish it before Neil. I ran away from you whole race and i made it :). I didn’t know you r dns and I did my best to keep up the pace thinking u were few positions behind me.
I send my trainer for complaint but i hope to meet you again. Thanks for playing together!

    • Neil Rushby says:

i am happy i could motivate you even though i wasn’t in the race!! You still finished it with a time a lot faster than my solo effort yesterday so it did kind of work! see you soon!!
