MUCKERS 2026 OCTOBER CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 2.

ROUTE AND RACE DETAILS:

Blackfoot Highway | Montana | 16.65 miles | 1,844 ft. elevation

ROUVY SAY: Start near Babb and ride south past Lower Saint Mary Lake, with the peaks of Glacier National Park rising to the west. Continue beyond Saint Mary into the open plains of the Blackfeet Reservation, where mountain scenery gives way to wide Montana horizons.

WE SAY: Race 2 and it’s time to get drafting…. up an 1844ft climb!! Well done Mucker! 🤦‍♂️ But it wouldn’t be a Muckers world championship month without at least one really tough route to race on would it!. So for some this will be a great race and for others, it’ll be the one to get past and then enjoy the last 2 races of the month! lol

FULL LEADERBOARD RESULTS FROM THIS RACE:

105 riders from across all 7 start times stuck to our 3 easy rules and are featured below. If you are new here, and don’t appear below, it will be 99.9% because you didn’t supply heart rate data. We had to disqualify 16 of you tonight which we really don’t like to do, especially after such a hard route so please get yourself a heart rate strap and get transmitting that data!

*Ballast added to this table

The Aim here is to get into the top 50 positions by the end of each 4 week period. If you do, you get World Championship points that are updated every month for the year.

Top 10 at the end of the Month get ballast added which is basically a percentage figure your points get deduced by and lasts for the whole of the year

We use your best 10 Months Out of 12 for the world championship.

WHATS NEXT TO COME:

Remember you are more than welcome to come and race with us on any of our races even if the championships are of no interest to you. The more the merrier!! These championships are just here as extra motivation and fun ways to train.

Sunday Hill Climb (aka the Sunday hill climb championship)

Got a long challenge route for us this Sunday. Make sure you are properly fueled and hydrated! We use:

Going to the Sun West | Montana | 49.74 miles | 4,088 ft. elevation

earch “Muckers Sunday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled climbs we have created so far. All start times included in the championship.

Tuesday Race Night (aka the w/kg training championship)

The 2.3w/kg target, and we use the current challenge route:

Montreal | Worlds Women Elite | Canada | 20.42 miles | 292 ft. elevation.

We also have a warm up race before the main race. It starts at 18:20 UK and we use:

Campbell River | Vancouver Island | 13.12 miles | 381 ft. elevation

Search “Muckers Tuesday” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled races we have created so far at the 6 different start times. All start times included in the championship

Thursday Race Night (aka the world championship)

Round 3 and we have a long flat ride with a bit of a blip in the middle to just get the legs burning! We use:

Montreal | Worlds Men Elite | Canada | 22.84 miles | 482 ft. elevation

Search “Muckers championship” in the event search function on ROUVY to find all the scheduled races we have created so far at the 7 different start times. All start times included in the championship

TO FINISH OFF:

Can i first just make you all aware that the last Muckers HIIT race night has now been scheduled for the 29th of this month. 16 races from 16 different countries and 4 minutes to do each one and get to the start line for the next one. They are a mad event but so much fun as well! Sprint like a pro then rest! The faster you do it, the more rest you get…. And finally the points are worked out on how fast you do all 16, not positions, so you have to push all the wayyyyyyyyyy.

Just look up “Muckers HIIT” and you will find all 16 races. They’ve all been made official by ROUVY already so this is also a great way to get a lot of coins in! The more we have register, the more coins we get as well! It’s got the potential to get us more coins than some challenges, and we will be done in just a few minutes past the hour mark! So please register for it, get them all downloaded and you will be ready. Last one of the year so lets make it a great one!

Than you to Ste Ludford who still smashed out the scores for me even though he sat out tonight’s race due to not feeling well, he’s an absolute trooper . Thanks as always Mucker.

I actually think that’s it. Thanks to you all for racing with us, we still get blown away by how many of you join in with us and we really don’t take it for granted. We appreciate all the support and we hope we can deliver a great ending this years championship which is still wide open!

Thanks as always for joining in with the blog and a last thank you to all who read to the end. Appreciate it.

I’ll be totally honest here: when the 15th rider passed me on that horrendous climb, i thought i’d totally messed this up and NOT that i was on track for a Category win! I’m such a weird climber.. if i start at 3.0, i will bonk and end up at 2.3 for the rest of it, but, if i start at say 2.6, by the time i get half way the legs just get better and i can then finish near the 3.0s. Bloody mental!

So, I have to Rocket start and draft my arse off at the beginning of tonight’s race just so i get to the base of the climb as fast as possible and i can start my climbing procedure before my main rivals catch me. Some caught me a bit too early for me to up a gear but when 4world and Vilem caught me, then it was time to try and hang on. We were then joined by the even stronger Rouvy1 so as long as i crested with these, we would blast the rest of it! Rouvy1 dropped us as one of the hitters came past, but amazingly we were caught at the top by solo super climber Sunniva! I honestly thought/hoped we crest before she caught us but that was an amazing effort. So 4 of us now and we draft really well and the next small climb is nice for my legs and i’m feeling ok….. Sunniva seems to want to drop us so it was now time to just show her i can/might/pray to hang on if i really have to and in the process we dropped the other 2!! Can we duo it to the end??? Yes we bloody can, AND i just have enough to get to the line in front of her! Wow. what a hard race and my new pbs tell me how hard i tried tonight. Totally spent and so happy it was all over!

Also, tonight random observation: when you are in a very fast pack of 4 down a long hill and you go into a kicker, you really do pass those other solo riders on the climb like they are sitting still! Maybe we are actually getting a bit more race savvy now as not 1 of us tried to go solo when we crested the long climb like has happened in the past. You look at the profile of what’s coming up and you just know it’ll be faster as a pack, but also in the back of your mind, have an idea where you might just go for it later on.. That’s racing for you……..

  2. Mike Hagen says:

I gotta admit, after flat races for the last while, or routes with climbs right from the start, I was happy to see something like a mountain stage. That climb still hurt though! Riding with macko and jakimaki, we closed with simonjp at the top of the climb. I don’t know if Simon was waiting for us, looked like he did, I’d’ve done it in his place, and the four of us hammered the downhill and (I like to think) were gaining on the groups ahead. Can’t be sure, though; I was a bit low on brain O2, spent most of the race in HR zone 7, didn’t even recognize the finish chute when I saw it, and didn’t sprint. It’s five hours since the race ended and I still feel wasted. That was fun!

And, Neil, about your random thought of the day; yes, a group can absolutely blitz a solo rider on a downhill or on a kicker. So it is crucial to keep your eye on what’s coming from behind if you are solo. My random thought was about the lead pack, very large today. We have a lot of savvy riders in Mucker races. We all know how important it is to get a good start and get with a front group. And we know how to do it.
