2024 MUCKERS SCHEDULE. * A LOT OF THIS HAS CHANGED SINCE THE LATEST UPDATE TO ROUVY*

Winter Muckers

*REVISED 07/04/24, 11/02/24*, *30/04/24, *22/08/24 *10/10/24

revisions are always in BOLD

Hi everyone, just wanted to throw a little blog out there about how the Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays Muckers Races/Events will go in 2024.

ITEMS THAT APPLY TO ALL DAYS:

The first point is to use these as you want to! We call them races and set them up as such just so we have a set start time and if you are up for a race you can go for it and not upset those who “thought” it was a group ride. Some decide to do recovery, group rides, zone rides, which is perfectly fine and acceptable! Do what you and your body feels is right!

We will always try and use a challenge route before anything else.

If you want to be notified about the latest organized races, when we create the 7:05pm weekday race or any time Sunday races, I (Mucker1974) send invites to everyone in my friends list on ROUVY at the same time.(This is the only time we sent the invites although you can register for the races whenever you want) So this is a great reason to be friends on ROUVY. We have realized however that sending invites to everyone for all races created at all the different time, really fills up your invited section and your only option to stop this is “friendship termination” So we won’t be doing that in 2024, in 2024 everyone gets the 19:05 invite on days with multiple start times, but please use this as a reminder that there will be other races on the same day but at the times listed further down in this blog. We also list the races on our website, we send reminders to our Facebook group and ROUVYS Facebook group on the day and also on Strava. And sometimes we are very lucky and ROUVY themselves make the races official.

In the summer months we cut back on the special mentions but once things start getting full again, we will start the mentions. We used to use Heart rate as a way to check that you were being as legit as possible but since the last big update, ROUVY have made it impossible to do this so we are back to trust! So please don’t make a fool out of us both by cheating then getting a special mention in front of someone else, just because you cheated.

We allow all trainers, Unless its a championship 1st race where we do a “Smart Trainer only” 1st race (ROUVYS way to sperate smart and non-smart trainers/bikes) as in an ideal world, it’d be great if everyone was on a smart trainer, especially in a championship event as these are really meant to be as close to racing in the real word on real bikes as we possibly can from out pain caves! . But the remaining races will be open to all trainers. *From September 2024, all the extra start times will be smart trainer only

All start times are UK or GMT for the sake of this blog.

If you see an asterisk (*) next to ride title, this means the Muckers Worldwide Kit is waiting for your Avatar when you complete that ride.

We will create the races and also send the links to ROUVY to hopefully get them made official so they show up when everyone logs into ROUVY and looks at upcoming events. But if you want that time slot to work, you need to help promote to friends, other riders etc etc as the more you have on it, the better it will be!

SUNDAY

We usually start our Sunday Races at 08:30 but sometime they might be later, but not by much. *FROM SUNDAY THE 26TH OF MAY, START TIMES WILL BE 9:15am. Normally we try and use whichever Challenge Route look the more likely to be a climbing route and use that, or we throw a few shorter/flat/interesting ones together to create a mini championship of sorts. *No Blog for Sundays unless its something a bit out of the ordinary and deserves one.

TUESDAYS

*From September 2024 we have 5 start times. We are actually running the 2LATE4ME version a day earlier so it’ll be on Monday night at 23:30. We are doing this to help with the blogs and results. So when i sit down to do the blog on the Tuesday night, i don’t have to re visit it the day after so i can let the late version run. Because its now going to be run on the day before, we will already have those results. 2EARLY4ME will now be at a new start time of 4:30, RISE&RIDE at 9:30, EARLY-ON at 12:30 and the main race at 19:05. Blog later that night or Wednesday at the Latest.

THURSDAYS

Championship day. We will run month long championships every Thursday. 6 start times for this with the main race being the 19:05 one. other start times are: 23:30 on the Wednesday, 04:30, 9:30, 12:30, and 20:30. these additional races rider finishing times to be blended into the main 19:05 results. One race blog featuring final positions to be published Friday or Saturday at the latest. Remember, invites will be sent to all friends but only for the 7:05pm Race, so if that time is no good for you, 5 other starts times are also out there so get registered for those so you don’t miss it.

IF YOU ARE IN THE TOP 50 PLACINGS AT THE END OF THE MONTH, YOU WILL HAVE YOUR LATEST RACE CHECKED FOR HEART RATE DATA. IF NO DATA FOUND, OR WE SEE IT AS STRANGE LOOKING DATA, YOU WILL NOT GET ANY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS.

ALL THE ABOVE IS SUBJECT TO ANY CHANGES.

The above is how we “want” it to run next year. 2023 has been our first year at this and yes, we have made some mistakes, but we do try and learn from them. We think the above should work, but anything can change can’t it and we will change it if we feel we need to. We are just 2 Guys doing this in our spare time so please remember this as we go through 2024!

regards, Neil and Kyle.

Hi Neil, firstly, thanks for giving so much of your time and putting huge effort in to the Muckers Worldwide project..much appreciated.
I have to work weekdays 12-9pm which means I cant make any of the Tuesday or Thursday rides.. would it be possible to offer an extra earlier start time 8am – 9am ish? Or is this problematic? Hoping to join you on New Years Eve Eve.. Seasons Greetings, Nigel

Hi Nigel, thanks for the comments. all I can say is if we get a few more requests to put on a 8:15 race, (We have more chance to get official race recognition if we stay away from dead on the hour start times) we will start to include them in February. January is all sorted and the race links already sent to ROUVY to try and get official status for them.

But if the interest is there then of course I will start them in February.

Thanks for your time and efforts. The opportunity to join Muckers races is one of the reasons why I opted for a Rouvy annual subscription. Thanks a lot

I only joined you guys recently, but I’m already looking forward to 2024 with the Muckers. You two create a superb league. No pressure, you can choose how to race them, you can choose to skip some and still be in the championship table. I love it!! With the extra bonus of getting stronger on the bike.
I really appreciate the effort that you guys put into it. Hope you get satisfaction as well.

Thanks Mucker. The way the whole thing has turned into a community of cyclist who all pretty much know each other now, either through commenting on here, the WhatsApp, Strava, Facebook, discord groups, has been more than we thought would happen. We are really happy with what we have created for everyone.

Thanks Neil and Thanks Kyle, I joined the group I think in the spring and then I never gave up, after many races the level has increased a lot and this is very stimulating even if today getting below the Top 30 is almost a mirage. My motto is never give up, and so I always try, I like participating in the blog and I try to introduce the group to all my friends. After so many races it seems like everyone knows each other even though we are in many different countries, Greetings to everyone and I’m looking forward to new challenges in ’24.
    Hi Guys

Thanks shark attack!!! yep, its great to see familiar names on the races now and know if you are with a certain rider you are doing well! thanks for the brilliant support you’ve shown us all along and we really appreciate you getting involved as much as you do! Its great when the new riders pop up and see us all commenting on how the race went from our perspective as it really does make it a bit more real and that there was a real person behind that avatar you were just racing against, feeling as on the limit as you were, but maybe thousands of miles away!! it’s amazing.

    Hi Neil,
Is there any possibility of adding 3 or 4pm (GMT) time slot in the future? The current 7pm timeslot in my timezone in Finland is 9pm and at that time I am already in bed. 3-4pm would be great as it would mean 5-6pm in our timezone, right after workday. Please consider, would be nice to take part on Tuesday or Thursday.
