MUCKERS 2026 FEBRUARY CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 3.

ROUTE AND RACE DETAILS:

GF Georgia route 1 – Helen | USA | 25.35 miles | 2,953 ft. climbing.

ROUVY SAY: Tackle the 40 km of the GFNS Georgia route with 900 m of climbing through steep switchbacks and forested roads. A short but demanding segment to sharpen climbing legs, test pacing and simulate race-day pressure in the North Georgia hills.

WE SAY: Bring it on! Challenge accepted!! But how many will be brave enough to join us and race this route? Race!! I remember when this sort of distance and climbing was an outdoor Sunday all dayer!! We must be mad……

Well 89 of us Must be Mad! I’ve just had a quick look at all the start times and we had 25 riders who Started and who didn’t finish. Thought that was quite interesting….

Lets get the rules applied and see how many we have left: Just the No-HR riders tonight where there was 11 of you, so unfortunatley you get 0 points with us for all that effort. Sorry.

This is where you can find all the data, full lists, full run down of races (past and future) and if you join, which is free, you can get even better insight into your rides. Give it a go, it’s really good. Even if you just use it for the ROUTE ANALYZER that helps you pick the best wheels and frame based on your data for the actual route your looking at makes it worth a look.

TO FINISH OFF:

What a race that was!! These longer Thursday Routes really make you feel you’ve just done something a bit special! We just got Lucky that ROUVY released these routes and we could slot them into our race days, But we will really try and keep this trend going for the year, but it will always depend on what challenge routes are out there. So, 1 race left and do you know what you need to do?? Hope So and good luck!

Next we have The Sunday Hill Climb. 2 climbs this weekend. 1st one is: GF Cheaha Alabama – Heflin | USA (26 miles | 3,235 ft. elevation) and we have given you 1 hour and 50 mins to complete and be on the start line for the 2nd climb which is:  Mt Cheesman Ski Field ~ New Zealand (14.28 miles | 3,041 ft. elevation)

Both are current challenge routes and we have arranged them for both the morning and the afternoon and if you don’t feel like doing both in one hit, thats fine, you can do 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. The choice is yours but remember, you can start a race up to 29 mins late AND our hill climbs are just all about the elevation so being late really doesn’t impact anything GC related.

Tuesday we have a special 2 part event for the w/kg training championship. ROUVY released 3 quite short races as part of a challenge so we thought why not use 2 of them for the 2.8w/kg week so at least we make these flat routes a bit more fun, and also give some a bit of a rest between them both. Just remember both races count towards the GC so try to do both if you can.

Then on Thursday we have the last race in this months championship! We are racing on the GF Georgia route 2 – Wikle Store | USA | 30.36 miles | 2,743 ft. elevation route, so pretty much like the last 2! A proper Muckers championship race route!!

That’s its for now. Thank you for all the support, especially all the offers of help due to imminent ending of NITEOR, we are still hoping something gets sorted, but if not, some of the Muckers extended family have been working hard in the back ground getting spread sheets and algorithms ready so we aren’t totally screwed come the 1st of March! Massive respect!!

Thanks also for getting involved in the comments on the Blog, its always great reading how the races went for everyone!

And lastly, thanks for reading the blog, especially those of you who read to the very end.

What a tough route… Also, i forgot to go on the analyser so didn’t have a clue what wheel and frame to go for. Would it be the default RIBBLE and the BIKE AHEAD BI-TURBO AEROS?? But its got a lot of climbing and i am probably gonna be solo on a lot of it so do i go lightweight?? arrrrggghhhhh lol So i went Aero bike, and lightweight wheels… yeah.. no idea why but why not eh. It was lets say interesting. Was quite hard to keep the high pace at the start without pushing rather harder than i wanted, even when in the draft. But when i got to the climbs, it was pretty good and was able to catch some.

Middle section and that was pretty good as was with a few other riders, but come on!! who decides what to call these segments?? “rolling segment” which was basically a climb?? first part was bit rolling, but even the hill segment started half way along the rolling one lol… Anyway, i digress……..

Felt quite good on the last climb abd ended up with a great riding partner in Jendor.net and i think we both understood we were better together than trying to break each other and we motored along to the end. i had the earlier times in my head that i needed to try and get under 1:35 as there were a few riders around the 1:35/1:36 zone so didn’t want to loose points to them by coasting to the line, So was pretty happy with the 1:34.

This also meant i am now in the GC top 50 for the first time this year. Can i keep it? Its gonna be tough as a few of the riders who are much stronger and only did 2 races so far, are just behind me so if they turn up next week i am likely to drop. But i will give it a good go next week, but maybe check the analyser before………

Interesting how race strategy can change from week to week. Thanks Neil. Just like a real life stage race. A greener Pablo would be tempted to attack all the climbs (and get crushed on the descents). But old dogs new tricks maybe. I started the day actually with an apparent opportunity to be awarded ballast for the first time , but two races still in the way of that. Rocket start, and then settled down and looked around. Approaching the first real climb I could intuit where my main competition concerns were. And then half way up that climb there were Svard and Mike Hagen. My plan was working. Stay with them, and work with them, and focus completely on attacking the start of the first big descent, and stay hooked on. And so it happened. Yea me..I think Mike gave me a thumbs up, or maybe I gave him one. And that’s the way it played out until about 8k to go….More downhill all out efforts, and then for reasons I do not know Svard and Mike dropped back. Perhaps because I had tempoed the climbs and just stayed connected with my competition, my legs were great. 90-100 rpm and soon I somewhat unexpectedly came upon Thomas_Lyhne, and just up the road, someone I didnt know, Great, someone to share the last real descent with I thought. But he would not pull through. I freewheeled, flicked my elbows, politely asked him to contribute, but no go. Then at the little orange bump just before the end I reved it up to 650watts and that was that. End result, I now rank #8…If I survive the dual hill climbs on Sunday I will try to preserve a top 10 next week. As for the dual hillclimb, reminds my of IRL training for classic 150k races…after a few hours I gained a reputation of finding a fried chicken take out place and going through the drive thru for a drumstick, or two, and a coke. Racers do not live on sugar and electrolites alone. Thanks everyone for today, and cheers

Just reread..I did not in anyway want to imply that
thomas_Lyhne wouldnt work on the descent. He was back a bit by then..It was this other wheel sucker who apparently felt no shame drafting off a little and old guy..lol

Here I am, it’s never happened to me in 3 years to skip 7 days on Rouvy.
I’ve almost recovered, 210 km with 3400 D+ in 4 days, so I start calmly and with slightly tired legs 😂. I find a good pace, with a large group, I remember SwissChris, Fazzo, Slyfly, Klinthomie and Duckman2… great teamwork, just what I like. When the climb gets tough, we lose sight of each other and it’s very tiring, but I keep going, I want to give it my all for my challenge of finishing in the Top 5 in A5 with 3 races.
At a certain point, GhostKiller catches up with me at the top of the climb, and I’m just hoping to work hard on the descent. Instead, no killer, just Ghost Chupa Wheels at the end… After a stretch all alone, Mr. Ludwig and Andy catch up with me. I work hard to stay together, the trio works, then, of course, Ludwig goes and I work with Andy, who hates climbs… I see my rival #1 in A5, Seppi1718, ahead, but Andy doesn’t want to hear of it on the climb, but great work on the descent, as we’ve always done in the past in our TTT Team… I wiped out GhostKiller without giving him a chance to slipstream, and in the end, I lose the sprint to Andy, tired but happy with the performance.
Greetings to all the friends I saw, until the next battle 👋💪🦈

Great group in the beginning. I was only looking at you. The tactic was: stay on Sharky’s wheel no matter what! It lasted for about … 21 minutes and 30 seconds (but who’s counting).

I love the phrasing “We lose sight of each other” – Manuel! You mean: you dropped us all, hahaha!

Great work, Sharky and nice to have you back 🙂

I complain lots about uphill starts, or early climbs, because I just don’t do well there. But this was fine, maybe because the climb was gentle for a bit until the red stuff really started? Rocket start and I passed MatthiasHeil into first place. Hoo, boy, maybe this was going to be a good day. But the pack was large, very large, as we all knew the climb would sort us out. And it did, indeed. I found myself with svard and Pablo1945, and if I could stick there I was going to do very well. We stuck together on the first climb, the descent, and the rollers. Ard got a gap on the second climb, but (strangely) Pablo did not go with him, and we regrouped before the top. Brief descent, and then the third climb, and that is where I ran out of gas. Or, more likely, those two asserted themselves, anyway, I got dropped. Soloed to the finish (passed Acondia) and I’m very happy with 15th place.

Finished. Mission accomplished. That’s about the only good thing I can say about my performance today. Hopefully this is the last time I do a Wednesday race (I did the Natl Parks race yesterday) because today I was already cooked before we got halfway up the first climb. Next week, I’ll try and get some proper rest ahead of the event and be a bit smarter about not going out too hard and hopefully make a better showing. Thanks to all who helped me finish this one! Cheers -Uncle E

This was a great route for a Thursday championship race. Had a bit of everything, long climbs, long fast descents, flats and some small bumps. Which meant tactics would play a big part. I worked with Matthias after the first climb, to reel in 2 riders who had passed going up hill? Who were clearly much better climbers than us, but not so quick going downhill. Must be due to the amount of cake I eat! As a four we worked really well together on the flat section leading to the second climb and managed to do enough to keep a large chasing pack at bay. Whose advantage of bigger numbers wouldn’t really count on the second climb and subsequent descent. Thanks to jakimati and Dok_PS for taking your turns on the front. Very satisfied with my 20th place finish!

  6. I my mind this route had a little bit of everything, long climbs, fast downhills, and some rollers. The only thing it didn’t have was drafting. The first long climb made sure I was isolated. It didn’t seem to matter as I caught and passed 3-4 on the roller section between the climbs. That was a pleasant surprise, so I refocused, if I can stay ahead on the second climb I know I can hold my position until the end. Success I was able to stay away on the climb. I’m surpised to find myself in the top 50 this month. I’m thrilled to be there considering all the altitute we have climbed so far. I like my climbing broken up into small kickers so I can stand and sprint. I am looking forward to next week. 35 hills 😂 See everyone next week, well not everyone just those of us who hang near the back.

Recon time trial, will not be able join tomorrow again. 8min to start i broke left shift lever, quick switch to backup bike, chain sucked, delayed start 1 minute. Moderate effort then as shifting on backup needs fine tuning. All and all, glad i did not have any expectations and finished at all. Thank you all who joined us.

Really fun race. Thankfully with a much flatter start than last week. Managed to hang on a long time in the rapidly dwindling front group of only 7 riders until the last 2 km of the first big climb, got caught by Morten near the top, and we then had a great collaboration the rest of the way managing to catch Velobuch … who then was hit by powercut but still managed to catch and distance us again … only to be reeled in on the last steep kicker. I somehow managed to beat the normally much faster Velobuch in the final sprint – probably beacause our directeur sportif Niels on the danish/norwegian discord channel shouted the magic words “Inter – Inter – Inter – Inter” – Well, I think we are ready for the rematch on tuesday in the Meazza 🔵⚫️👌🏻
