MUCKERS EURO COAST RACE NIGHT. RACE 1. 03/08/23

Rouvy Route Used : Teulada to Chia | Sardegna | Italy | 12.48 miles | 1089 ft. climbing.

Route 1 from the European Coastlines | MEDIUM Challenge.

49 Registered | 38 Finishers | 3 DNF | 8 DNS

45 Minutes to smash this one before the 2nd race of the night begins. Should be ok for most of us, and a nice challenge for some!! Also a night to celebrate!!!! Today we were finally given official Race Status by Rouvy which is a big deal for us. The fact you guys keep coming to our Races that I always organize with Challenge routes, seems to have swung it in our favor. It also means our races are on the home screen and now on the App as well so hopefully more people see them! Thanks everyone as we couldn’t have done it without you guys jumping on the races.

“Tuden” Made a welcome return to the top step, completing this route in just under 29 minutes! Very strong tonight, well done!

13 seconds later came “Carlo-Calcagni-INVICTUS-G” who I’ve not seen on one of my races during the week before. I am a little concerned with the fact he registered a massive average of 372watts, but doesn’t have a cadence sensor (not a massive deal) or a Heart rate sensor which is pretty much a must nowadays when doing this on line racing. I will give him the benefit of the doubt for this race but if you are reading this, can you please get a hr sensor so we can see you are at least making an effort for these amazing figures 🀨. Otherwise there’s a little cloud of doubt over what should be a celebration of a great result.

30 seconds later came the Brit “breers33” with a great effort for 3rd place, just 4 seconds in front of the strong “karel_sousek” who claims 4th with 5th place “JoseCostaRonda” coming home in a little bit of no mans land!

Sprint finish for 6th place between 2 Muckers Worldwide team riders with “Berty-Bassett6” just seeing off “nielsbrynnum” in 6th. Class effort guys, well done!

Couple of British riders in the next 2 places with “nigelhardy” claiming 8th and regular strong rider “robbiedoo” in 9th and then finally in 10th place but only 3 minutes and 37 seconds behind the winner came “paulsn” to claim tonight last mention!

41 riders raced this one so well done to everyone that finished this and thank you for joining us!

Neil Rushby

co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

double edge sword expression springs to mind! love the fact my races are getting more popular and are now official, but the more riders we get, the further away from the top 10 is the result!!! πŸ˜†πŸ˜…πŸ˜† 26th and had to work so hard to get that! but had an amazing race overall with some great battles along the way.

Felt a bit rubbish during the warm up then had a really good performance, I wish my brain and my body would coordinate better. Formed a strong group with kin kwan, Stefan Smit, Ryanio-Bianchi, PeteBurford and flyger. The rolling terrain prevented us riding in a tight formation as the ups and downs suited different riders attributes as they pulled off the front to be caught again as the opposite gradient arrived. Added to the mix was the wish to secure the best possible result for fellow teammates Kin & Ryan, so while I was much happier with my contributions at the front of our little bunch tonight there were also occasions when I ‘sat on’ while teammates got back into position. It was looking like we would all go to the line when a gap of 100ft slowly opened to the riders behind Kin and Myself, we went hard until the gap looked stable and held it to the line. I’ve been a little disappointed with my recent races, I thought old age had found me out, tonight has boosted my mood.

great result mate and glad the ride boosted your mood. no one likes a sulky thumb! cheers Mucker!

Great performance Steven, we were able to ‘work together’ and finished ahead of the group. very pleased to cross the finish 2 races in the row with you!

Last night I don’t know why I was convinced that there should be a double challenge in our championship… put on the bike after work and I can’t see the race 😜. 30” from the start I find you but I don’t have the video downloaded, result of 16 km of stress just looking at the gradient graph and that of the riders near me. In the end, a good challenge with the usual friends (Christyan, Neil, Ryanio, Stefan) too bad for not having had more energy to beat Fly.ger in the sprint but that will be for another time. Today maybe I spent more mental energy of stress than physical 😜. Until next time.

Never done back to back races so didn’t know what to expect – turns out it’s pain !
Had a decent race with highest recorded 1 min power , hr near limit all the way and still I was just hanging on to nielsbrynnum , I tried to take some turns but our speed ebbed and he was soon back out front doing the work – something I could do little about , as we came to the finish I honestly thought he would dig in and leave me in the dust so I put in a little surge and I went across the line – no intention of pinching the win , more limiting the loss and felt guilty for crossing first – however , boy did he make sure he won the next race !!!
Thanks for sorting these out really making a difference to fitness

Tonight, there were two races, each with a 1-to-1 ratio. I decided to give it my all in the first one. During the first climb, a few riders got dropped, but I managed to catch up to “Svard,” who has recently been a powerhouse. I have ridden with him in the real world, and he is like a machine. Throughout the race, I stuck with “Svard” and “MatthiasHeil” until the very end, where “Svard” unleashed an 11 W/KG sprint for the last 600 ft. I couldn’t keep up and let them take the 11th and 12th positions, respectively. I was happy with my 13th place finish. Well done to everyone!

First race of the evening, got off the start grit quite well despite I lost contact to the front group on the climb. I saw my teammate Berty-Bassett6πŸ’ͺ together with Robbiedoo and Paulsn behind me and I decided to ease the pace and join their group. We worked work well despite I think I was pulling most of the time πŸ˜‚ Anyway Berty-Bassett6 and myself showed our strength and pulled away from Robbiedoo, Paulsn and continued together to the finish line. No sprint, we past the finish line in good sportsmanship between 2 teammates. Great race and thanks, enjoy your weekend.

I was going for the second race so took this one easy. That was harder as expected with all the uphill and I even had to keep an eye on the time limit (as in, on time for the next race). Lucky me my great teammate Denny44 was there to give mental support and some pulling where he could. Thanks buddy!

  8. Michael Michelius says:

For this evening I had planned to ride this one with high effort and the second one as a recovery ride. Since I always struggle a bit on the climbs (I still have to improve that), I lost a few places there. But in the end it was a good result for me. The average power of 272 W and a heart rate of 178 were very close to my current limit. So, mission fulfilled πŸ™‚

Link to the race featuring quite a lot of you πŸ˜€.
Not trying to find excuses but I’m a bicycle mechanic so I’m standing all day long and my legs everyday feel like I’ve already done a bike rideπŸ˜†. I used to work less hours so I could push harder then. Oh well it is what it is πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ, we all have to work so end of moaning. For me it was mostly a solo effort this time. It was nice to come through the field to end up 17th. These days NP290 is only good enough for top 20, nevertheless I’m happy with my result. How can one join the WhatsApp chat?

    • Neil Rushby says:

we like a good reason that’s not an excuse here at Muckers Worldwide. we will put that in the book of excuses, sorry!, the book of reasons!!! πŸ˜‰ You’ve been a regular for some time now so you are definitely a Mucker in my eyes so you just need to change your team name to Muckers Worldwide and send me a message with your mobile number and i will be in touch. we also have a discord channel for when the races are on if that’s what you’d prefer? its entirely up to you. speak soon. Neil
