Route 4 from the European Coastlines | MEDIUM Challenge.

Hopefully we are all here and now ready for the same distance as the first race but with an extra 230 ft of climbing! We actually had more registered for this 2nd race than we did the first! Is this the new normal when your races are featured on the app in the upcoming events???
“JoseCostaRonda” decided race 2 was for him and outsprinted “Tuden” for the win. just 0.6 of a second between them! Great to see “Karel_sousek” claim a strong 3rd place aswell on his 2nd race of the night.
Next 4 places are from 4 different nationalities…. but all Muckers Worldwide team riders! 2nd Race top Mucker goes to the the Dane “nielsbrynnum”, 5th to the German “denny44”, 6th to the Brit “Berty-Bassett6” and 7th to our very own Pocket Rocket from Belgium “Andy_UP” Very impressive stuff gentlemen!
French regular rider “lrollin” claimed 8th with another strong ride (are you sure you don’t want to be our first French Mucker??), another Muckers team rider “Svard” in 9th and then the final mention to another French rider with no team “ErLeGo13” who just kept 2 other Muckers at bay to claim 10th spot!
Well done everyone and especially those that had a go at both races tonight.
Just the usual endings: ( over explained as per usual though…..)
if you’ve raced on a Muckers race, you now have the right to use Muckers Worldwide as your team name, if you so wish

24th but just did some zone 4 heart rate training on here after a flat out first race. was nice to take in the views! Caught up to fellow Mucker Mick and we rode most of it together, while i wondered if he actually knew what i was doing……
Well I found out 2 things in the second race ,1- it’s very hard to do 2 races and, 2- MUCKERS don’t take chances ! At he first pedal stroke I thought ‘ that’s an interesting feeling in my legs ‘ the initial burst at the beginning wasn’t there so I thought just try and manage what I can do , heart rate was in the place where I should be able to keep in for 1/2 hr ish but there was no buzz coming from legs . I gave up any chance of catching nielsbrynnum unless his wheels fell off and just concentrated on trying to hold off Denny44 who was catching on every uphill , last climb I had a bit of a gap and thought just eek power up to maintain a little gap and maybe get away with it on the downhill but even though I upped it abit , denny44 upped it a bit more and after he came passed there was a little bit that said grab his wheel , but a very big bit said that’s your lot chum , and I wanted to leave a message on the road at that point for the next rider to pick up all the pieces of me cos I was broken ! Watched the scenery on the way down the hill through tearful eyes – but really enjoyed it and thanks to all
funny report Mucker! 2 races is a weird feeling isn’t it and you are right in that you know as soon as you set off if the legs are with you or not. Still a cracking ride though!
Race 2 of tonight’s crazy, stupidly fast races. “Chill, you’ve done enough,” was my thought. Off we go. The first mile was a hill climb, so I did a steady 3.5 W/KG and caught up to a fellow Mucker, “S. Ludford.” I have ridden with this guy outdoors before, so I know what he can do. We were also at the pub together last week. “Help Ste up these hills,” was my thought. Throughout the entire race, “S. Ludford” took control on the downhills and flats, while I pulled him up the hills. At one point, either of us could have secured a top 10 position, but “S. Ludford” told me to push on and get the top 10. “NOPE” was my reply. Team Muckers all the way. It finished with “S. Ludford” in 11th place and myself in 12th. I really enjoyed helping a fellow Mucker in this race. See you all next Tuesday!
2nd race of the night, still buzzing from the 1st one I decided ‘what the hell, go hard again’. It became a full length race for 10th, 11th, or 12th with ErLeGo13 and teammate kylofski. Ryan was agonisingly close to joining us at the beginning but when Kyle came past I just gritted my teeth and followed knowing it would be a painful ride. Kyle was brilliant and bloody stubborn in equal measure, brilliantly working out the pace I could hold uphill, 5w draft is 5w, every bit helps, but smooth pacing is the key. Then he’d allow me to come strong over the top of each climb to allow my extra bulk get us down quickly. ErLeGo13 was never actually with us, dropping back about 500ft at one point, as he started eating into our advantage I begged Kyle to go on and secure the 10th spot, he could have done so but the stubborn Mucker chose to continue the path of helping me to the line, massive respect Mucker, sorry we let 10th place get away but the last hill was one too many tonight…you made me work hard when I may have taken the lazy option, I’m glad you did.
Chilled on the first race because I felt really tired from the day before (37km race and 20km challenge route). Andy did the same and we saved some energy o. Legs were ok and as usual the speed was high right from the start. After the first hill nobody was around me and I saw Lee and Andy in front of me and Svard behind me. Svard would be a good and strong partner for me but he put a lot of effort in the first race and I guessed he will be tired at the 2nd half of the race. I stayed alone and pushed hard at the climbs and tried to recover on the downhills. I saw Andy loosing the wheel from Niels and knew he is tired and falling back. Passed him and were chasing Lee. At the bottom of the last climb the gap was 25m and Lee was going with amazing 5W/kg. I was doing the same with the last power left in my legs. Before we reached the top Lee had to reduc the power and my only chance to beat him was to hold the 5W/kg til the top. I did that by reaching my max hr, passed him and happy finally reaching the top. What a battle between the two of us. Fantastic race and my legs are still tired. Need to recover for the next days 🙂
Normally you go easy at the start, riding near the back waving to the spectators and signing autographs. Good to see you go with the early pace and secure a good result. Well done.
well done Daniel and what a finish!
Second race of the evening, again got off the start grit quite well despite I lost contact to the strong Dane Tuden and JoseCosta from the beginning . On the last part of the climb, karel_sousek passed me as well. An impressive strong Andy_UP 💪💪managed to close the gap to me. We were pushing hard and was closing in on karel_sousek (< 50 mtr) who was in 3th position, but at the same time Tuden seemed to be dropping back to karel_sousek and as they started to work together, they pulled away from Andy_UP and me. Shortly after Andy_UP´s energy level seemed to decrease and I continued alone towards the finishline. I really enjoyed the race,
When I couldn’t hold your murdering pace on the uphill I cried out, heavy panting and sweating, trew my bottle at virtual “deamon spawn” Niel and cursed him like an old searobber. But “Andy_UP´s energy level seemed to decrease” sounds nice!
😂😂😂
Tried to save my energy on the first race, so I was going all in on this one. This is one of my favorite routes on Rouvy. Went really hard on the first hill, saw Niels 35m in front by the end of that hill and gave it all to close the gap. This and this alone was a big accomplishment! Could hold his wheel for 2 more hills. Riding with the big guns, oh yeah! Too bad there where 2 more hills to go after I had to let go. Other super strong riders passed me (Lee and Daniel) but couldn’t hold on for long. Still a very nice 7th place and a mention!
😉
Great race and great report!
How do I connect with your WhatsApp group?
Hi Simon, first can you let us know who you are 😁 i am guessing you are “S1mon” but i don’t want to presume? and to join the chat, first you need to have been a regular for a few races, then change your team name to Muckers Worldwide, then message me your mobile number and i will get you on. If you are more interested in just being more involved with the team during the race, we have discord for that as well. regards, Neil
Second race of the evening – just relax and enjoy. That was the plan.
Riding the climbs with little effort and relaxing on the descents, Mucker1974 aka Neil appeared on my near-by list. I checked his stats and thought: OK, he is doing the same as I do and is not far behind me. Why not ride together? On the 3rd descent I tried to let him catch me, which is – surprise, surprise – not so easy with brakes that did not work on a virtual bike 😉 So I let him catch me on the next climb and we had a nice social ride to the end. Thanks Mucker. Although it is just virtual, I have the feeling that time goes faster when riding together…
CU at the next event… Mick
it really does go faster when riding together. i could tell you were on an easy as well and hoped id catch you up but without going into my zone 5. this is why now and again you’d drop me. i could have stayed with you but i was trying to do some disciplined training 🤣. flat out on Tuesday though!
