MAIN RACE RESULT:
A little bit difficult to give special mentions to the sprint winners on a hill climb as the time gaps won’t be anywhere near as close as when we race on a fast ending route. So, we will go old school and give tonight’s special mentions to the top-10 which is probably about right as these guys showed up and had a great go at getting to the top as fast as possible.
Well done “karel_sousek”!! superb effort to get this win tonight, especially over the very strong “Stefan_Schmidt” who came home 55 seconds later. Canadian rider lightweight rider “anatso” gets 3rd and i would just like this rider to make sure his weight is set correctly at 58kgs? all your other stats seem to change nicely with the gradients, cadences etc etc , so it’d be a shame to be misrepresented because of a weight error/mistake. Kudos if the weight checks out though, I’m just asking you to check its correct.
“hinsbergen” gets a solid 4th, with French rider “lrollin” coming home 5th. New Rider “pluplu” comes in 6th, i can’t see any stats so you get away with a mention once but please accept my friends request and hopefully have some heart rate data to go off… please…
7th is a NED due to not accepting a friends request from a previous race, and also no HR data on his strava post after a little bit of digging. Looks a legit and strong rider but no mention on here due to the reasons stated.
8th is tonight’s top Muckers Worldwide Team rider “m-forby” with “Dok_PS” coming in 9th well before the 2nd Muckers Team Rider “Groenen” comes home to take the last mention in 10th place!
Thank you to everyone for jumping on and I hope you enjoyed the race, and if like me, you didn’t, at least you are happy we got a challenge route ticked off! 😂🤣
Hopefully see you at Thursdays 3rd Round of this months Championship event.

i really need help on these climbs! weirdly i can pace up them at around 2.0 all day long, but its been the same forever! So i have to do something to get better. tonight i asked the Muckers on the WhatsApp group for some help to try and stay at 2.5 up this and MikeHagen, S.Ludford and Chorus all helped! A Canadian, A Spaniard and a fellow brit all helping in the world we call muckers and ROUVY.
Was fine for a good 3/4 of the way then i saw the last steep section looming and i was struggling to stay at 2.5 and just wanted to drop to my “safe” 1.9/2.0! i advised them to go for it and the reply was “No, we can catch and overtake 3 other riders!” eh???? 😮😮😮. somehow i kept going and we caught 1 and I was actually feeling okay at around 2.6/2.7 which was a bit of a shock!
we crossed the line and i was quite happy with my effort. Wasn’t very happy with the chat afterwards thanking each other for “taking it easy” tonight 😂 But you can’t help but be impressed with how some of these guys can just climb so well.
Thanks guys and lets see if it helps me stay over 2.5 for race hill climb on Thursday!!
Neil,
As your race report leaves my result with a decidedly large question mark,
when are you providing all racers with my immediate response and documentation with two photos? You had my response to your separate email request available within hours.
Would that not be fair by an organizer? You did not even bother to check the documentation, let alone wait to include it with your report.
Sincerely, Olav Stana
Hi Olav, i have messaged you privately explaining the process of the blogs and how your proof wasn’t included. I don’t think the report leaves your result with a large question mark as all I really did was ask you to just double check your weight was correct. You told me it was and i am happy to move on, Photos of scales can be manipulated just as easy as anything else can and i won’t be going down that route at all as it’ll be me sat at my pc looking at random pictures of men and women and then lots of feet on scales🤷♂️🤷♂️. If i have to do that, I’d rather just quit this whole thing to be honest as that’s taking it all way too far and way too time consuming for a race that most people forget about in a day or two. take care Olav.
Just for a bit of fun, joined Mucker1974 in surging to 1st and 2nd place in the first 30 seconds … by 60 seconds we were firmly in last positions. We’d agreed to ride at 2.5w/kg tonight and were joined by ‘Chorus’ and ‘ Mike Hagen’ as willing pace setters. It was more than I wanted to do, but equally, any slower would have been too long for me. I like this pace on a long climb, I’m too heavy to fly up the hills and find 2.5 comfortable for my heart rate over prolonged climbs, it gives me room to dig deeper on steeper sections and also to increase power towards the end if there is anything in reserve, much better than starting faster then dying when you most need it. Towards the end I was ‘itching’ to give chase to riders starting to slow down but we had stayed together so well it felt wrong to sprint off … OK, I did sneak one final sprint in.
Race stats: Age : 57, Weight : 95kg, IF=0.838
Averages : 144bpm, 243w, 2.56w/kg.
we will always have our 1st and 2nd mucker! they can’t take that away from us!!!!!😂
Famous Mortirolo, finally something for climbers. The biggest concern i had about room temperature, but could hold it at 25C, which is “ok”, but every degree up would reduce power. Running warm up, feeling much better than yesterday. Switched to lightweight Festka bike and jersey, the only thing i forgot is to visit hair stylist. Lets go, race started, lets check who is here and who is not. Lot of super strong folks missing, yet few joined.
I went into breakaway with Luis73, who then quickly distanced me up to 50sec at split1. No wonder as he was pushing 5,5wkg all the time. I had decent advantage over Stefan, Chris and others. Especially Stefan did great job, keeping distance at the same level. I was ready to finish second, but then i could see Luis is going only 3,8wkg before last hard section. Because i could hold avg ~4,6wkg all the time, i passed him finishing 1st, with Stefan and other following soon. One of those days, when you know ahead you will perform great, so lets enjoy the moment as tomorrow is a new dong. Thank you everyone who joined!
you seem to do well on these flat hill climbs Mucker! well done and cheers for the comments.
