MUCKERS TUESDAY RACE DAY. 21/05/24

ROUVY Route Used: Passo di Foscagno | Italy | 9.07miles | 3044ft climbing

Introduction.

Tuesday Race day is here again and as the challenge routes on ROUVY at the moment are all quite hilly, here’s another hill climb! I really do try and use the ones i think we could ALL complete in 90 mins max on a weeknight, and if I think they will take longer than this, then those get used on the Sunday morning instead. So we try and call it “Chill-out Tuesdays” but ROUVY do like to test my scheduling of these challenge routes 😆. I am not too concerned about mixing them up on Tuesdays so it can be weeks of hill climbs sometimes, but Thursday Race Night I will try and mix it up as best I can with the routes at my disposal.

As per usual with a Tuesday, we have 3 other start times for the exact same route so lets see if anyone Jumped on any of those:

2LATE4ME RACE RESULT:

NO FINISHERS ON THIS RACE!

MAIN RACE RESULT:

65 Registered | 39 Starters | 35 Finishers | 4 DNF | 26 DNS

39 starters so we must have had a decent amount at the top to be confident the top 10 mentions were giving it a good go! “Tuden” wins tonight for team Muckers Worldwide with a commanding 22 seconds lead over the very strong Spanish rider “magayol”. These 2 showing a massive turn of speed tonight as the bronze medal gets awarded to the beast “karel_sousek” who was just over 2 and a half minutes behind in 3rd.

4th goes to “jvlieghe” who just beats 5th place rider “Flyingskywalker” by 2 seconds!! all that way and just 2 seconds between them. I wonder how that all unfolded? hope they comment?

We have an even closer finish for the fight for 6th with “Stefan_Schmidt” just beating 7th place rider “hinsbergen” by 0.3 seconds!! Another story we’d love to hear about if they read this and could leave a comment or two?

Just 4 seconds later comes “anatso” in 8th place, then we have our first NED in 9th due to no HR data, leaving the last mention for 10th place going to “adampel” who still managed to smash his way up this climb with an average speed of over 11.4mph!

Well done to you all for finishing this climb. It was a nice climb compared to some we’ve done as it never really ramped up too steep and allowed you to hopefully keep a nice cadence all the wat up! Maybe this is why we only had 4 DNFs which is a very low number for a climbing route.

I do feel we gave some new mentions tonight so maybe those guys don’t know that we do have a special “Muckers Mentions” T shirt in the shop that might interest you? Any purchase from the shop helps keep this thing going, so any purchase really does help us out in a massive way behind the scenes. Cheers to everyone who buys something, and especially those who repeat purchase. We know its not the cheapest once postage has been added but at least you know you are getting an item that’s still quite rare and new and we are still waiting for the first 2 people wearing something “Muckers Worldwide” branded to bump into each other, somewhere in the world and let us know!!

Cheers everyone for the continued support and hopefully see you on Thursdays race!

Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

Tuesday training night for me and held a 2.5w/kg average up the climb. Rens kept me company and although nothing really to report, this is a nice climb as there’s no really steep red or dark orange sections so you can keep momentum going quite nicely. I deffo feel better on Tuesdays if i rest on Mondays though……

Passo di Foscagno definitely lived up to its reputation tonight! 🔥 I hit a wall around the 20-minute mark – my garage was radiating heat like a furnace, and for a second, throwing in the towel seemed like the only option. But the thought of a cold beverage and some post-ride recovery kept me pedaling.

24th place might not be podium-worthy (or T-shirt worthy… next time maybe!), but considering how close I was to quitting, I’m counting it as a win. Huge respect to everyone who conquered this climb, especially those top finishers. You guys are machines!

Following Giro mountain stages, Passo di Foscagno with 900m up in 14km. Tuden, Jan and magayol started fiercely since starting shot and i got immediately dropped, got back and we continued in small group together, with Jan travelling a bit back and forth. Tuden with magayol went slowly ahead in the middle of the race, followed by Jan. Think i had good legs, just not best ones. Continued with pace i could handle with, keeping Chris and Stefan distanced.

Jan stopped racing before end, so oficially i finished 3rd, but we know who was stronger, thus no podium in my eyes. The gap for two leaders looks big and actually is big, but as mentioned, would need best legs, 4,5wkg simply was not competitive. Great racing all in all, thank you all who joined!

Chill-out Tuesday! Well, I was chill. No warm-up, jumped on the bike with just minutes to go, was typing a text when the starting gun went. Pedaled, not fast, sent the text, then looked around for someone to ride with. Went by kylofski, then Squalo_delle_Alpi and Duckman2, rode a bit with Regina_L, eased ahead, and then passed ludwigdb. Huh? But legs were really good, feeling strong. DonMatteo_07 came by and I thought, here’s a young, strong guy, can I keep up? I could. We moved up, finally catching dimitrygrib who stuck with us. Holding high 3s and low 4s most of the way, pleased with that, then with a couple km to go DonMatteo_07 (young=frisky, I guess) surged ahead to chase down nielsbrynnum who was next up the road (Niels next! OMG!). I got ahead of dimitrygrib by the finish, but couldn’t close much on Niels. But that was my highest average power in a ride in at least six months. Really wish I knew where that came from. Really fun for a chill ride!
