Here is your weekly roundup of the biggest racing highlights, endurance dirt battles, gear insights, and our upcoming virtual schedule catching our eye this week!
La Vuelta a España 2026: Andalusian Summit Showdowns & Red Jersey Warfare 🇪🇸🔥
The 81st edition of La Vuelta a España is turning up the heat as the race plunges deep into the rugged mountains of southern Spain. Following the punchy opening coastal stages and Pyrenean tests, Week 2 is all about high-altitude grit across Andalusia.
With brutal mountain finishes looming at Calar Alto and the punishing ramps of Sierra de la Pandera, the general classification favorites are locked in an explosive tactical chess match. Breakaways are fighting tooth and nail over scorched Spanish tarmac, while team leaders are testing each other on double-digit gradients in scorching late-summer temperatures.
With over 58,000 meters of total vertical climbing packed into this year’s route all the way to the historic finale in Granada, every second counts. Expect fireworks every single afternoon!
Gravel Earth Series: European Gravel Season Reaches Boiling Point 🌲🚵♂️
Across the European gravel circuit, the momentum is electric. As the Gravel Earth Series approaches its season finale, riders are gearing up for the rugged Ardennes terrain of The River in Bouillon, Belgium this coming weekend.
Combining technical singletrack, steep gravel ascents, and river crossings, the late-season gravel calendar is pushing riders and equipment to their absolute limits. Riders are dialing in tire widths, tire inserts, and low-pressure tubeless setups to balance rolling efficiency on tarmac transfers with razor-sharp grip over loose shale.
With riders chasing crucial series points and qualification spots for the autumn World Championships, the gravel world is delivering some of the most thrilling, authentic racing of the entire year!
Smart Trainer Tuning: Mastering Gradients & Flywheel Inertia for Autumn Form 🚲🔧
As evening daylight begins to shorten in September, many riders are ramping up their indoor training volume. To make the most of your virtual racing sessions, here are three essential setup tips:
– Trainer Difficulty & Gradient Realism: On Rouvy, running gradient simulation at 100% gives you the most authentic road feel and forces you to use realistic climbing cadences on double-digit pitches. – Drivetrain Cleanliness: Direct-drive smart trainers generate immense torque on virtual climbs. Keeping your chain degreased and lubricated with high-efficiency drip wax significantly reduces watt loss and drivetrain wear. – Cooling Strategy: Don’t wait until you’re sweating buckets to turn on your fans. Start your high-velocity cooling from minute one to keep core temperatures down and sustain sweet-spot power outputs.
