Route 2 from the Americas Nature Parks | Easy challenge

With a sheepish look on my face, i start this blog and I can only apologies for not getting on this race today. If it had been kept as the 2 Muckers events with the goal of getting the 2 routes done for the 2 challenges, I’d have been on it. But once the Hills of Flanders race got canceled so we could jump on the official Rouvy race, I think a lot of us felt the extra pressure to be fresh for the official race, well, I did!

So you guys that did this are my hero’s.

Gold place hero came “gufoemiliano” with a time that meant a superb 24.18 mph average! Silver hero came “uffzynda” with a nice average speed of 23.5mph, then not too far behind came Japanesse rider “tekito” to claim the Bronze.

4th and 5th were not too far behind the top 3 at all with British rider “robbiedoo” getting the better of German rider “mgk1971” with the final finishing position being claimed just over a minute later by “faena

Thank you all again and I hope at least the race was as good as the close results suggest.

cheers,

Thanks Neil for the explanation and for your “strong excuse”😉. Now I understand why there have been so few on the route. A place 2 is not so worthy without all top riders like you and others.
Considering the training stress I had the days before, I am still quite satisfied with the result. My weekly “bike season” only starts on Thursday and already ends on Sunday each week. I had 3 races since then, now number 4 (and Flandern hills marking no. 5) plus 2 “normal rides” on the “Vuelta 2022”-challenge, which is not part of the Muckers events, at least I think so. That said, the conditions for today’s race were not ideal for me, same like last week. My unfresh legs were sore and weren’t exactly in an Olympic mood, but beeing there is everthing isn’t it? My plan today was to team with my old school friend “mgk1” to let him pull me – and vice versa, but somehow everthing turned out to be different. I had a marvelous start directy behind the later Italian winner “gufoemiliano” and could follow him for a while, but the distance eventually became too large and then I was again solo in the race on P2. Should I wait for my school friend mgk or should I try to increase the distance to the chasing group consisting of Japanese rider “tekito”, the well known and feared ultra fast British rider “robbiedoo” and my friend “mgk1”? I decided trying to holding them at a slowly increasing distance and keeping up to “gufo”, which partly worked, probably due to a big bowl of noodles this time, I consumed late last night 😉
I wonder what happened with “runeholtzmann”, I have him on my screenshots on P4 in the beginning, just behind mgk1, then he passed him and caught up to “tekito” on P4. These three guys (tekito, mgk and rune) changed the positions a few times, which I had a careful eye on and occasionly increased my Watts to keep them away 😉 when I saw them approaching. After an hour I have “rune” still on my screenshots in last position but not wheeling any longer.

After the finish I had ~ 15min to relax and get on the bike again for the Flandern race, emptying the rest of my noodles, which (as you will see in Neils next report) helped to survive but only on a very rear position. 😉

CU next time, Chris alias “uffzynda”

I am happy you used up some energy in this ride Chris, it was possibly the only reason how I kept you in my rear view mirror for the Hills of Flanders – well done in both races.

    • Neil Rushby says:

well done Chirs and thanks for understanding. Yes you are correct, the La Vuelta got releases a bit late and ends too soon to be scheduled as a muckers race.

you looked to have made the right decision to keep going rather than back off but its always a bit of a conundrum isn’t it, especially when you have another race to do afterwards. it didn’t seem to affect your result in the Flanders race, and if you would just add “muckers worldwide” as your team name, you’d have been our top placed rider!! 🤩

      well done again Chris.
