What the Zwift-Rouvy Deal Means for Every Mucker

Zwift Acquires Rouvy!

Alright Muckers, it’s time to lean in and listen up. The big news we’ve all been tracking on the Discord has finally crossed the finish line: Zwift has officially acquired Rouvy.

For a community that lives for the real gradients and the “uncanny valley” of the Stelvio or Passo Pordoi, this might feel like a big shift in the gears. But before you think we’re all going to be forced into neon-colored Watopia avatars, let’s look at what this actually means for our weekly “hit-outs” and the hard racing we do every Tuesday and Thursday.

1. Two Different Rides, One Garage

The first thing to know is that Zwift and Rouvy aren’t merging into one giant app. Think of it like having two different bikes for two different moods: a sleek racing rig for the “game” and a specialized climbing machine for the “real world.”

Zwift’s CEO, Eric Min, and Rouvy’s Petr Samek have made it clear: both platforms will keep their own identities, separate roadmaps, and separate subscription models. Our virtual road—the real-video routes we love—isn’t going anywhere. We’re staying in the “real world” for our championships.

2. A Massive Win for Your Setup

If you’ve been eyeing the Zwift Ride or the Zwift Click/Cog but didn’t want to leave our Rouvy racing community, this is your lucky break.

The biggest immediate change is that “Zwift Ready” hardware is now officially supported on Rouvy. This means:

  • Virtual Shifting: The Zwift Click/Cog system now works natively in the Rouvy app.
  • Built-in Navigation: You can now navigate the Rouvy menus using your Zwift hardware controls.
  • New Riders Welcome: It’s now easier for riders with Zwift-specific rigs to jump into our peloton without needing a whole new trainer setup.

3. “Hard, Fair Racing” – Our Rules Haven’t Changed

We Muckers pride ourselves on being on the rivets and keeping it honest. The ownership might have changed, but our internal regulations are set in stone.

Rouvy’s recent 4.2 update is our best ally here. It’s given us the “serious backup” we need to keep the racing pure:

  • The 5.0 w/kg Limit: If you’re dropping the hammer at over 5.0 watts per kilogram, you’re still getting the DQ from our championship points.
  • Mandatory Heart Rate: No HRM data means you’re marked as “NED” (Not Enough Data) in the reports. No exceptions.
  • Real-Time Anti-Cheat: Rouvy’s new system flags fishy power numbers as they happen and shows who’s on a non-smart trainer. This keeps the “dodgy trainer” advantage out of our Tuesday night throwdowns.

4. Friendship Still Rules the Road

At the end of the day, Muckers Worldwide isn’t about the software—it’s about the people in the pack. Rule 1: Friendship is still the most important line in our rulebook.

Make sure you’ve sent your friend request to Mucker1974 on the platform so we can grab your stats and get you into the weekly race blogs. Whether you’re chasing Swifty or holding the wheel of S.Ludford, the community vibe in the “Virtual Pub” on Discord and Facebook is what keeps us coming back to the pain cave.

Pro-Tips for Your Next Session:

  • Dial Your Gear: If you’re using Zwift hardware, update your Rouvy app to version 4.2 or higher right now to unlock that virtual shifting.
  • Check Your Weight: With any big update, sometimes settings can shift. Double-check your weight (60 kg minimum for the men) and FTP so you don’t get a surprise DQ.
  • Test Before Thursday: Don’t wait until five minutes before the Championship start to see if your trainer connects. Do a 10-minute spin on Wednesday to make sure everything is humming.

The road might be under new ownership, but the climb is still yours to conquer. See you all at 6:30 PM this Thursday for the next round of the Championship.

Ride on, Muckers!

Kyle Goodram

Kyle is a digital writer for MuckersWorldwide.com I've been out riding all over Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire for the last 12 years. It is mainly to keep fit as I love food and would be 16st if I didn't ride my bike at least 3 times a week. This leads me to Muckers Worldwide, as when the weather is un-rideable (fair weather cyclist) I move indoors to cycle on Rouvy. We have a large group of races that we race throughout winter in the UK. Hope you come and join us on a Tuesday & Thursday title of the races are "Muckers". Thanks, Kyle

And now, let’s hope that under the new management, we can once again have a service dedicated to races and championships similar to the one Niteor used to provide!
