MUCKERS 1st EVER MINI GP EVENT!
On Thursday the 30th of July 2026 we held out first ever MINI GP event. Normally on any 5th Thursday of any month we hold a HIIT event that has always gone down well, but we seem to have used all the really short routes now and also just fancied trying a few longer routes for a change instead of the flat out 1 -2 minute routes.
Id also seen a few race tracks on ROUVY and wondered how they would look in a race, especially with the way they’ve been recorded with other riders on the circuit: Would that add to the experience? would it mess it all up? So this mini GP event was created.
We used 5 routes:
Laguna Seca Raceway | California | 2.22 miles | 230 ft. elevation
GPBRASIL CVB│AUTÓDROMO INTERNACIONAL│GOIÂNIA/GO | 2.35 miles | 102 ft. elevation
VIRTUAL SHIMANO SUZUKA ROAD | 3.6 miles | 236 ft. elevation
Brno Circuit | 3.29 miles | 262 ft. elevation
Circuit of the Americas | Austin – Texas | USA | 3.37 miles | 233 ft. elevation
We gave 10 minutes to do the first 2 then 15 minutes to do the rest. We hoped this meant enough space between then for at least a short rest 🤞🤞🤞
We also kept to our same points rule as in it will all be based on accumulative time for all 5 events. We do this just incase some races get lots of riders and others don’t, stopping that bigger populated race ruining your championship standings. imagine loosing by 1 point just because lots of riders turn up for 1 race and knock you down the order so far from your nearest rival that they win on points, yet you were faster than them over the whole event. We will stick with points for out proper championships, not these little fun 1 nighters……
Big shout out to Ste Ludford for yet again smashing out the spread sheet to make this event possible.
FINAL STANDINGS:
Well done Karel!!! didn’t top the podium once but was always right up there!! DonMatteo was just 10 seconds behind in a really strong 2nd place, then we have top-top female riders Jana who seems to love these and the HIIT events we do so well done and thank you for taking part.
Top 19 (out of 32) did all 5 races, so all of you, well done and thank you for giving it a go. would love to hear your thoughts on the format and if you’d like me to do this type of event again or stick to the 12-14 race HIIT events.

Thanks again everyone, see you on a Muckers race soon.

As those that know me, i am always looking to try something different and thats why i put this together. I’d had this idea for a few years to be honest, but it just sat there on the back burner as i do love the usual HIIT events, but as i was trying to work out the direction of the next HIIT, i just wasn’t feeling anything that i was trying so sometimes, if you are not feeling it, you’ve just gotta walk away and try something else, so dug this out. I was toying with putting the long Nurburgring as the last race but i thought an eta of 40-50 mins was a bit much for a “last” race, but i now feel a longer last race might have been interesting as i didnt feel as wiped out as what the usual HIIT races do to me.
Back to this event, got 12th place which i was happy about as most races i was finishing around 15th and i really enjoyed it. I am not a top rider in any respect, so i was happy with the time spacings as i felt the rests were just long enough and those few who were slower than me, should have had a few descent rests as well. (hopefully)
i feel the only mistake i made on this one was having a long climb right at the start of the first race. In hindsight i would have swapped 1st and 2nd round, but apart from that, i really did enjoy it. Being able to rest a little in the draft then attack the next section or just settle into a nice tempo on some parts was a nice change from the usual HIIT format, and i felt myself getting stronger as the event went on, so maybe this type of event can run a touch longer than the 60 mins i usually try to aim for?
Best bit was a 5-6 rider bunch sprint on the last race that i just timed perfectly to win. worst bit… the climb at brno! OMG that was horrendously hard lol!
Fantastic event!
I really enjoy the HIIT races, but this was equally good. I’m glad you didn’t add the longer one in at the end, as it would throw the nature of the races out of kilter, after all we do plenty of longer races each week. I don’t think you needed to worry about not having enough of a work out, I was pretty cooked by the end.
As always thanks for organising- great fun
Thanks for the comments Simon, and well done on the solid 5th place! Yeah i’m glad i left out the long one as well and went with The circuit of the Americas instead as you are right, it would have thrown the nature of the event out of kilter as each race was roughly the same kinda’ effort wasn’t it. If ROUVY don’t release any more circuits between now and the next one, i might just aim for 6 of the most popular routes just under 3 miles and 200ft(ish) and give them a try next time. But i did enjoy racing on race tracks, even if Suzuka was the wrong way round lol.
