MUCKERS 2025 MONTHLY & WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RULES & REGS.
Okay, lets see if we can cover all this now before the new Championship Starts in February shall we. 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞
These rules and regs are for the Thursday Championship Events and will be titled “championship” or “c/ship” in the race title on ROUVY. They will also be easily found on NITEOR once we start to create the races.
It will run similar to the 2024 version but with a few changes. First we will cover the monthly championship:
- Monthly championships start in February and will run till the end of year. So 11 months.
- Each month will consist of 4 races. Those months with 5 Thursdays will have a stand alone race or TT or something, on that 5th Thursday, but it won’t be part of the monthly championship.
- The stand alone race results will be on ROUVY as per usual, but if you want to be part of this championship, we are making it mandatory you have a heart rate monitor and ROUVY can see it. No heart rate data riders will be automatically removed from the monthly championship table that we are running with the help of NITEOR. So no data, no points. its simple and not up for discussion.
- Anyone with an average of power of 5.0w/kg or above will be removed from the standings in that race. So keep an eye on your set up and if you are legitimately able to produce that power over a Muckers race, then you are just too strong for us and it’s time for you to seek out a professional cycling contract! BUT those top hitters need to keep this in mind when we do a short race and monitor there efforts carefully! Some will be very close to this and will be fun to see if anyone actually over cooks it in a race, as it’ll be a DSQ! Its just to add some control and little bit of jeopardy!! Not a reason to get upset.
- Any male rider with a weight lower than 60kgs will be removed automatically as well this year. We don’t want proof if you are lower than this, just change your weight to 60kgs. If you are a Mucker and want to race with us and not be seen as gaining an unfair advantage, then you won’t have a problem with this. If you do have a problem, then this isn’t the championship for you. Again, Just to add a little bit of control to things. These Races do get to be taken seriously so we feel the need for some base rules.
- All race start times are smart trainer only, apart from the last race of the day. We will be sporadically checking all races, especially these “all trainer” races very carefully and if we see anything blatantly dodgy like constant heart rate all the way, constant power all the way (but no change in heart rate), hardly any change in cadence (especially now we have braking) then we will remove you. It’s meant to be as close to real life as possible, so please treat it as such. Again, if you disagree, then find something else to participate in. If we see the same issues with the same trainers, we will also just start to automatically remove any riders on those trainers. Simply put, if you have a stats page full of straight or just slightly wavy lines, then you’re probably gonna get removed. Best thing to do, stop pedaling when we hit the brake zones. This is a race, not a training session so if you ride like you would outside, we should at least see the drop in cadence when braking.
- The horrible subject of cheating and accusations. We have always tried to publicly just say the blatant cheaters need to be removed but those marginal ones, that’s really too hard to police! But as the Muckers championship got more and more competitive, more and more people get accused of cheating, either because of someone just being a bad looser or an actual fault happened to the accused on that race and they are on with fixing it. We have always waiting till we get at least 3 or 4 separate reports from different riders before we look into anyone. We have always done this, but in the background as it’s just not a nice topic and never really wanted it public just in case it gave more reason for people to waste our time and use it as a way to get competition removed. But recent events have led us to the conclusion we need something in writing so no one thinks they are being treated unfairly. So as we’ve said before, this whole thing is to race against each other as realistic as we can be, as if we are all really out there in the real world racing against each other. So, if you get accused by 3 or 4 other riders, we will try and look into your real world data to see if it correlates. We know what to look for, we are not looking for exactly the same stats as we know that’s impossible, we are just looking (for example) to see if that 280watt/25 mph/ 20 mile average rider on ROUVY, isn’t a 125watt 13mph average rider out there in the real world and only managing 10 mile rides etc etc. If we are happy, nothing gets said to the accused and we reply to the accuser and explain our stance. If however, we aren’t happy with the accused outdoor rides, or they don’t have any, we will try and start a dialogue to see if they can confirm there trainer is calibrated, have any other data we can see etc etc and if we feel we aren’t getting anywhere, we will have to remove that rider from the championship until we get some back up data. Both the accused and the accuser will be checked the same way. Also to the accusers, if you are constantly emailing us and turning into the cheat police, you will be asked to leave as well as it just gets toxic! So think carefully before you start accusing and maybe sleep on it first. Its meant to be fun, but we also understand its meant to have ( or we hope KEEP) some credibility as well.
- Points are the same as 2024 for the top 51 so 245 to 95 points. But from 52nd downwards it’ll be 94.75 then just dropping 0.25 points rather than a full point. This is to enable more chance for those riders finishing outside the top 50 in a race, but join us for every week, to be closer to getting into the top 50 at the end of the month. When the races are at there fullest, some riders can pop on, get a 10th place in one race and still have enough points to beat someone who, for example, got 90th out of 120 riders in 4 races. Just trying to close that gap. Also when its the last race of the month, we want to create more competition between all those riders just finishing outside the top 50 to still have a chance to finish higher up that they did in 2025. Really want to keep those riders from 51st all the way to 100th places closer.
- Ballast. (your ballast figure is what your points for the race will be reduced by and is a percentage score) We introduced this as a way to limit the top 3 running away with it in 2024 and although it did work, it didn’t work enough for us. It’s meant to keep it all a bit fun and hopefully tactical, plus allow more riders to battle for the monthly title. So at the end of the month, the top 10 will have ballast added to there total points, and this will “virtually” stay on your bike for the rest of the year. 1st place will get 2.5% ballast then it reduces by .25% all the way to 10th who gets the lowest ballast of 0.25%.
- Start times have changed a little. here’s the run down:
1st race is the night before at 23:30 (all times in GMT) and its titled 2LATE4ME . smart trainer only
next chance is the 2EARLY4ME titled version at 4:30. smart trainer only
then we have the RISE&RIDE version at 9:30. smart trainer only
next up is EARLY-ON at 12:30. smart trainer only
then new time slot 15:30 which we are calling BITLATER. smart trainer only
MAIN RACE is now 35 mins earlier at 18:30. smart trainer only
LATER-ON is now 1 hour earlier at 19:30. all trainers.
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RULES & REGS:
This is a free competition, please remember this…… you don’t have to register or anything, just follow the rules and regs and you will be entered automatically.
We only run this to try and keep you all engaged for the year. Please just see how you do and don’t treat it as the be all and end all. Its FUN!
At the end of the monthly Muckers championship, the top 50 riders (based on points not reputation 😏) will be entered into a separate leaderboard, using a nice and simple 50 -1 points system, so 50 for first, 49 for 2nd and so on and so on. This is what we call the “world championship leaderboard”
Every time we have the final top 50 for a month, those riders will be added to the world championship leaderboard.
We are allowing one poor month in 2025, so at the end of the year, if you have had 11 entries into the leaderboard, we will remove the worst one. So if you have a bad month, don’t worry about it, everyone can and no one gets punished (points wise) for it.
No Prizes have been sorted for 2025 and non are promised. We just got really lucky in 2024 with ROUVY supplying an amazing amount of rewards for the top 10 but if it starts to attract nice numbers, we will approach ROUVY again, but we need the numbers to even have a chance to start begging, sorry, i mean negotiating for prizes, so please help us by racing with us.
And finally, when the year is all over, If you finish in the top 10, you will be given ballast for the very start of the next year. This is the only time Ballast comes into the world championship. So for 2025, STEFAN-SCHMIDT starts with 2.5%, LROLLIN 2.25%, KAREL-SOUSEK 2%, BAREREMI 1.75%, MIKEHAGEN 1.5%, M-FORBY 1.25%, NIELSBRYNNUM 1%, DON-MATTEO 0.75%, RATIM 0.5% and GROCHANG .25%
WE THINK THATS IT?
Remember this is for fun, and these rules and regs are just for the Muckers Thursday Championships. If you want to see the rules for the Sunday Hill Climbs then please read the separate blog for that. Tuesdays are just stand alone races that we try and use challenge routes for as well so no rules and regs for Tuesday, just do what you want

NOPE, I FORGOT SOMETHING!!🙄
- 07/01/25 I Forgot the dreaded glitch issue! This is how we treat glitches. We won’t change any result because of a glitch. It sounds harsh, and when it happens to you it’s like the end of the world, we’ve been there! But if we all know the deal before hand, then you all know everyone will be treated the same. Maybe try and make sure you do the earliest version of the race, so if you do glitch, you give yourself the chance to at least have another bite of the apple later on. Try to make sure you do all you can to minimize the glitch with your set up, download the route first is always a good one because if you do glitch on a race you haven’t downloaded, you tend to get kicked from the race. If you glitch and you have downloaded it, you see everyone else freeze but you get to keep going and if the connection is restored, all of a sudden it all springs back into life. But keep pedaling because if you cross the line, you still have a chance to be included in the ROUVY finishing order. Its only a chance though, not a guarantee. Another good way to stop it is while you think it might just be about to happen, when you see the screen freezing or throwing you back 50ft or whatever, is jump to map mode! I myself have to do this and it tends to work, especially if there’s a lot of action going on on the screen in front of me. Mine seems to like throwing me back out of the draft when i am in a pack of about 10 and going around a corner! We exit the corner and BOOM the pack is 70ft up the road and I’ve lost all the draft! So yes, i have personally experienced it and also been kicked from a race when i didn’t download it. It is horrible, but we have to stick to the rule that we only use the data from ROUVY and that doesn’t care if you finish or DNF 10 feet from the line. Just see the glitch as a major mechanical failure or you failed a drug test! Even if we see you were about to cross the line, if you aren’t listed as a finisher on ROUVY, then you are a DNF on the muckers championship as well.
- 11/01/25. Updates the rules and regs to include what we do about the horrible topic of cheaters and accusers.
- 25/10/25. From Next year the 19:30 (UK) version is going to be removed so we can get onto the blog and points sorting an hour earlier on a Thursday Night. So this means the 18:30 (UK) version will be the last race. We’ve also tried to work out how to help those who might struggle to make the Thursday Race as well so we’ve come up with the idea of re introducing the 19:30 version on the Wednesday instead. A kind of Bonus day you can jump onto if you think the Thursday isn’t going to work for you. However, we don’t want the Wednesday to take all the riders away from the Thursday main race, so with that in Mind, we are making this race “Non-draft”. So yes, you now have a different day to set a time, but its only because you can’t make the Thursday, not instead of. Why are we telling you now? Because we are bringing it in now so it will start for the November championship this year. both 19:30 races will run in November and December, then the Thursday one will be removed for 2026.

Looks like a well balanced package. Looking forward to start the next championship race.
Can i ask about the weight rules. I see myself as a good drafter. Trying to save energy as often as possible. Im still a bit worried about the 5W/kg rule. Just to make sure to not overshoot it am i allowed to do changes in my weight for the few races that i feel can be a problem? Im 69kg and my 20 min power can be as high as 363. A change to 73 or even higher if the race is slightly uphill and short will hopefully drop me out of the DQ range. Must admit that i like the rule.
We really can’t see any problem with increasing weight at all!!!! That’s the way to do it, and for you top hitter, just make sure you absolutely stop pedaling when you end up in the brake zone. It’s not for long i know,, But those 0 watts instead of a pointless 300 watts, will help keep that average power down.
But yeah, be interesting to see the comments after a short race and those that haven’t paid attention then get a DSQ for too much power!
Lets see how it goes…..
Thanks =)
As for me, I can only agree with BareRemi, well done Neil. I have no problem with weight and 5,0 W/kg 🤣. Also my ballast can motivate non top riders, even riders far away from mention can achieve any succes. Only thing I don’t know is whether you will apply ballast for every ride, monthly results, or only at the end together with worst month elimination?
Ballast is “awarded” at the end of every month to that months top 10, to carry from that day forward to the end of the year. So every month, the latest top 10 will be awarded that months ballast and so on and so on.
Hi Muckers, please could you consider adding a 6:30 – 7:00 am start time for those of us that don’t want to get up a 4:30 but can’t make other times due to work.. Thanks for all your efforts..Nigel
I am really nee here and I really like the idea. I Hit it Right, that I do Not have to Register for the Series? Just Ride the Event on Rouvy?
Tables for Thursday and Saturday Are on your Homepage?
I would be Glad if the tuesday would have a Ranking, too. Thats means More Motivation. 😊
Can I See the upcoming routes? How Long the races are?
Thanks a lot!
Yes thats correct. You just have to participate in the series (Thursdays). The HR monitor is important.
I cannot comment on your wishes. An easy method to have a look at future races is to download the rouvy companion app. Select “all events”, search for muckers. Scroll down to the event and select it. When you take a closer look at the event select the route to have a look at the profile. To have a more detailed look you can either search for the route name on the official rouvy website, you could also search for it on the rouvy analyser website or gem citys website.
You can find unofficial ranking for Tuesdays races on Niteor
