MUCKERS 2025 NOVEMBER CHAMPIONSHIP RACE 4.

ROUTE AND RACE DETAILS:

Bentota | Sri Lanka | 18.77 miles | 217 ft. of climbing

ROUVY Says: Ermmmmm nothing about this route, and to be honest, what can you say??? its flat, there’s some traffic and puddles and the climbs aren’t really steep enough to kick and drop too many riders. But was it a good race route? only you guys can decide, but it was a challenge route so we get the credit if we finish it and i think racing on it made it at least a little bit more enjoyable… well, i hope it did.

So how many riders finished this over the 9 different start times? 219 of you crazy Muckers!!! so lets see how many stuck to the 3 rules: 173. But i almost dsq’d 2 females (photchic and Regina_L) because they are still set up on NITEOR as males! So please sort that out as the last thing i want is the female numbers being reduced just because of an admin error. I’ve messaged them both so hopefully sorted for next week.

last thing to do is re-learn the categories like NITEOR advised me to do after each race so your categories are more closer to what you are actually doing, and hopefully no ones been moved up or down a few levels in the process.🤞

Ok, lets crack on

TO FINISH OFF:

Well Erlend that was a dominant month wasn’t it!!! 3 outright stage wins and a 3rd place in the other round sees a great result. congrats to Don Matteo on a well deserved 2nd place and what about 3rd for KarianneKanebog!! top woman’s racer and finally strung a full month together just to show how strong she is!

But this was a really competitive month and we have quite a few riders who did all 4 races who struggled to get enough points for a top 50 placing in the GC. The margins are quite small so it just shows you really have to push all the way to the end of the race as you’re not only racing with those on screen, you are also racing against all the other riders from the 8 other start times as well.

So another month done. I’ll be updating the world championship blogs over the next few days and we then go into December! wow, that’s come round so fast.

Thanks for the continued support and thank to all those that have read this blog to the end. Appreciate it massively as always.

Just got back from a long Thanksgiving Day with relatives and friends (2 different feasts in one day!). I’ll have to adjust my weight in Rouvy tomorrow (and hopefully ride it off again before next Thursday). I checked the results and I’m sorry to have missed this one because these shorter flat routes suit my larger frame (I’m about 6′ tall). It would have been fun to see if I could have stuck with the group that looks like it contained MikeHagen, RaTim, Sharky, EddyDomino, MatthiasHeil, EddyDomino, MNHROUVY, simonjp, Chak, and others. Kudos to everyone and a special call out to Squalo_delle_Alpi (The Shark) for dominating the A6 category this month. Well done Sharky! Also want to thank Neil once again for the tremendous job he does with the Muckers racing series’. Even when I’m not able to race or have to abandon to take care of personal or work business, I always try to at least check on the Thursday updates. Neil, you and the Mucker team have built “something good!” Cheers!

    • Manuel Lamber SHARK says:

Thanks a lot for the compliment received but this time I’m so lucky that my friend Michael rode only 3 races 😜.
Therefore as ever I give all for my possibility, and I’m happy for my result 💪👋🦈

    • Neil Rushby says:

happy thanks giving Mucker! Yeah, sharky really needs a promotion!!

  2. Klinthomie says:

First Muckers race with a HR monitor! Let’s go!

As a big guy, I love a flat route and found myself in the second group, but I was STRUGGLING! I could not do my duties up front and lead or help the group, so thank you all for letting me keep on.

I of course got dropped on the very last kicker, but I kept my head down and got in before anybody else could catch me.

Can’t wait for december, it is too much fun racing with Muckers. Those thumbs up along the route keep me going!

    • Neil Rushby says:

Very strong race indeed! 4 races next month with HR and lets see where you place! i’ll be watching with interest!!

    • Mike Hagen says:

No shame there! Getting in with a fast group and sticking with it is the first stage. Then get with a fast group and stay near the front with reasonable comfort, that’s the next stage. Then get in with an even faster group and repeat! It never gets any easier, you just go faster.

      • Klinthomie says:

Thanks for the advice, Mike – I am taking notes!

I can see the december races are a lot more hilly. I am not optimistic about my performances in these, dragging my butt over any mountain is a chore for me, but as long as I see progress and have fun, that’s all that matters 🙂

  3. Simonjp says:

    Amazing race
Tried to stay with the quick boys again, wasted effort, but huge amount of fun. Thanks Neil for organising such a great racing series!

    • Neil Rushby says:

glad you enjoyed it. i do try and mix the routes up so different riders do better at different routes, but as you all know by now, it all depends what the challenges throw at us! good luck next month

  4. Karel Sousek says:

One of the biggest sprints recently, as 20 riders reached finish line together. Before that not much happened, it mainly required just stay cautious to be in the bunch. This time i missed ~100w in finish (compared with Tuesday), so 13th place is the result. Thank you all who joined us!

    • Neil Rushby says:

cheers for commenting Karel. i was very surprised to see all those same average speeds up front! shame Colin wasnt there to cover it as i bet it was a great sprint-off

  5. Manuel Lamber SHARK says:

Another power race in this month, I know that I can ride good but in this week start also my skialp season and after 4 day of full training session between ski and bike my legs starting to shout at me Help 🤣.
Very nice start, but I work better when ride with Mike, Simonjp, MNHROUVY, Ratim and after also a Chak.
A race always near the front, always to try to catch other riders more in front… fortunately this time was only 30 km…
No power for a high sprint but I try to get a long sprint ….very happy to take the first position in A6 but the next month start also the long hills and the game will be open another time 💪.
See you at the next week, thanks to everybody who ride together 👋💪🦈

  6. Chorus says:

Another flat race. After a good start, I got into the first group and just had to stay there until I dropped back because I couldn’t keep up on a small slope. I formed a small group with macko and RuuDeen, and we worked well together until the end. I feel bad for MatthiasHeil, who fell a little behind and couldn’t catch up with us. Congratulations to everyone who finished.

  7. Neil Rushby says:

i was in a bit of a rush to get the blog done and get out to go and pick my son up at 11:30 last night i didn’t get the chance to report on how the race went for myself.

it was a strange one! the app crashed on me whilst doing a warm up route so i decided to quickly to switch to my mobile phone, but that was at around 25% charged so went onto do not disturb and put the brightness as low as my eyes allowed i could see shadows and, the gradient maybe what position i was in but that was about it.

Rocket start and was in the top group but then was dropped and got into the next pack. I have no idea who was there and it did feel like i might have been experiencing the weird hidden rider/no draft issues as my nearly list would show i was close to other riders up front, but no one there and no draft. So as my eyes adjusted to the small print, i could see the group i was in was from about 52nd to 62nd so i just stuck with these guys and sent the odd thumbs up now and again when we all got up the little yellow sections together. i couldnt see when the sprint was coming so was quite happy to see the “sprint segment” pop up as that must have meant we were nearly finished, but by then, it felt everyone had already kicked, but i gave it a go and it looks like i came mid pack.

it was only last night looking on strava i realized the pack i was with! looks like i was with the Muckerets!!!! Quite a strong group which explains the good finishing position, especially considering there was over 100 on the race.

So thank you to those in that pack, i think it was a good race lol but i hope the ipad starts to behave again soon so at least i can see whats going on!

  8. Mike Hagen says:

A flat sprint race! Not the kind of race that suits my strengths, but so much fun. I almost missed getting into the second group just after the start, but saw RaTim in there, and some others that I’m usually with, and surged 5 – 6 W/kg for what seemed like the longest time and managed to get on. Good for Manual (Sharky) to hold my wheel and come along. Once there, it was a matter of staying near the front as we picked up riders dropped from the lead group, which had had 34 at one point. So 13 dropped from the lead group during the race, and I think we scooped up half of them. Then the final sprint and not much tactics this time; just put the head down and go. Ended mid-group, which was fine. And hung onto 2nd in the A5 GC; I’ll see if I can get into A4 next month! Watch your back, guys!

    • Neil Rushby says:

Well done Mucker and thank you for dropping into the comments. I feel the categories are working out better now even though i did have my reservations when NITEOR changed things. I’m very interested so see if we end up with someone jumping category mid month as well which could quite possibly happen! (hopefully to sharky lol)

      • UncleE64 says:

I was wondering what would happen on Christmas and Surprise! A Time Trial with a slew of start times. Great idea Neil!

        • UncleE64 says:

I guess now I’ll have to spend some rouvy coin on a TT rig. Hmmmmm.

        • Dominique EddyDomino RODRIGUEZ says:

A real time trial contest? Incredible idea! Well done Mucker! 😜👍Plus some extra time slots: waoww, I was sad to cannot perform the last Thursday of the year… Thank you very much, a big present for Christmas

          • Neil Rushby says:

hey guys, thanks for the comments. I definitely couldn’t leave it as a race on Xmas day! the wife would kill me for starters but also, how cruel would i be to just leave it as a Thursday race day on Xmas day. hope you set a good time!!
