Muckers taster race. 2 laps. Might do 9 one day! 26/02/23
Rouvy Route used : GPBRASIL CVB | LAGOA DA PAMPULHA | BELO HORIZONTE/MG
2 X 11.28 MILES | 98.43 FT CLIMBING
We’ve had quite a few discussions recently about how’s best to get a 100 mile indoor trainer ride done. So do you aim for a rouvy route that is over 100 miles, but generally quite hilly or a lapped event which runs the risk of getting boring?
we have done 2 100 km events this year already and one was quite good (SwissTri Linthathion) with just a small video pause when it looks like you are going to hit a van, but the other (GPBRASIL CVB| ORLA DE ATARLAIA | ARACAJU/SE) was just so boring, going up and down the same road and just changing directions at the roundabouts.
So instead of putting everyone through 60 km of the same, I chose to do 2 laps only of this one just to see if its a contender for the 100 miler? It’s not bad but you hit some traffic about half a mile into it and if you use the far away avatar like I do, you loose it for a decent amount of time then catch back up to yourself a little later on. This really lets it down for me. could I be ok having that happen 9 times?? Something to think about I guess as is the so-so visual stimulation….
I really like the 0.98 mile long German route (Grand Prix Bad Homburg) with its short sharp climb (which gets longer and longer the further into it you go as we’ve done this as a 20 lap crit race already this year) then a nice downhill to recover, but you would have to do it 103 times and the total climbing would be 5744 ft all in as well! But imagine that as a test!!! 103 laps and all those chances to draft!
Anyway, back to this race which I’d only organized about 5 days ago so wasn’t expecting a large number on at all.
Only 6 riders on the start line, but I still wanted to see how this route looked, so off we went and quite soon we were down to 4 riders with myself and leon going along quite nicely in 3rd and 4th. soon “Beppe.O” seemed to drop out and we were left as a 3 with “Trend-Profit” well in the lead and who went on to take the win. Thank you for sticking at it and Well done on the gold.
“Beppe.O” came back to life and slowly but surely caught me and leon back up and we spent most of the 2nd lap together until very close to the end, Beppe just had too much and pulled out a nice gap to take 2nd. Myself “Mucker1974” and “leon_ledoux” came over the lone together for 3rd and 4th with both of us trying to slow down so we didn’t beat the other! 😂😂 At least I got my first (and probably only) podium of the year. 😉

i honestly feel for Dan Rocky as it seems he just pulled you all along, but why would he do…
hey we can only see what challenge routes ROUVY throw our way, Got a fresh batch to go at today…
Yah Neil, you were my motivation to stay with that group as long as I did but, even if I…
Flat race in Nordics. Few attacks, mostly in the first half, then everyone rather followed pacemaker Dan Rocky going 5wkg…
Congrats on a nice race and making a new weight! I second the motion for at least 1 flat race…
