FINAL STANDINGS FOR THE 5 RACE CHAMPIONSHIP! (REVISED!)

29 Riders did all 5 races and this is your final table. Well done to you all but it was definitely a close battle all the way for the top 4! Just 12 points separating you all after 5 races! I’d love to give you all a special mention but this blog has just taken me 4 hours to complete so I’m done to tonight! THE BLOG TOOK LONGER TO DO THAN THE RACES!! 😂😂😂😮

REVISION!

Thanks to MikeHPLCycling changing his ROUVY name whilst i was in the middle of the 4 hour blog yesterday, i missed this change and had him down as one person for first 3 races and another for the last 2. At the end of the day this was just a fun way to get the challenge done, but it wasn’t sitting right with me as this blog might actually out live myself and I don’t want to be on my death bed and still annoyed this result wasn’t 100%!😉.

Also i got the impression it was important to him and to karel who also asked so i’ve just spent the last hour revising the blog. If this guy doesn’t buy a Muckers Worldwide T-Shirt now I feel I will need to re-evaluate my outlook on the world…😝.

Please leave a comment just to help me at least feel this was all worth it?? 😉

Neil Rushby

co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

wow, that took ages but it was worth it as I was seeing the results after every race and the top 4 were really close!. I did all 5 races and it was getting tough at the end but I really enjoyed the challenge and the format. hope you did too?

    • Slyfly says:

Thank you 🙏🙏Neil for planning this challenge and for evaluating the race results 😀👍
It was definitely a lot of work. But I hope there are more races like this. Please keep it up. I’m always happy when I can ride with the Muckers, even if I don’t manage to get into the top twenty 😉 But I’ll be happy if I survive the races healthy😅

    • Silvia says:

Really Neil, I did miss the check of everyone’s HR in the top 50 😉. Give it another hour or 2.
Just kidding 😈😂, the amount of time you put into to these races deserves a round of 👏👏👏

      • Neil Rushby says:

ha ha ha… i did check the first few of the guys who did all 5, but then thought i Know most are legit and they’ve just spent the last 3 hours doing this with us. felt different to a normal race night.. we definitely had some strange single results, but those didn’t end up in the main table so all good. I know you are only pulling my leg, but wanted to explain a little…

  2. Steven Ludford says:

Half hearted Mucker this morning only doing middle 3 races. Kudos to everyone doing all 5, tricky decision to pace or race each one. I did 2nd one as warm up and 4th one as a cool down. ‘All In’ for Race 3, if I ever have grandchildren I will tell them I stayed with Karel’s front group for 2 miles …. then we came to a lump in the road and I was history.

  3. Torben Adolph says:

Today I’ve learned yet another lesson :-p
It’s not the best idea doing a 5 race in a row with a fresh cold. It did feel ok on the first four races but then at the second last hill I was dropped from a Muckers group (yes still have to try to eat and drink) and pow – I was like 90 m behind. I did came back but had to do like 3,8 w/kg and thanks to Andy_Up for helping the last meters, but then I was all done. Nothing left.
Last race I was freezing so bad and wasn’t able to get much watt in to the bike so did a nice zone 1 ride and manage to get the last place on a race – ever :-p
It took me well over 6 hours to feel warm again and now almost 19.00 CET I do feel very good and well rested.
Thanks for a get 5 in a row race Neil and hope you will plan more of these in the future.
PS: I did finally eat before a Sunday race and bring energy drinks to the race. 🙂
All power to the Muckers 🙂

Very nice canadian championship. It wasn’t easy, but we managed to get to the end:),The routes were nicely chosen. The competition was good. The attendance was also great, so I hope that there will be more than one championship in which I will be happy to take part. Congratulations to all… Until next time!

  5. Andrew Styles says:

Many thanks Neil for the organisation of this really fun event. This is definitely my favourite way to complete easier challenges like this one. The best part of it is having the pack mentality to push harder than you would if you rode the route yourself. All 5 races, one after the other definitely tests your endurance, however finding people of a similar level to work with makes the whole thing far more enjoyable.

My tactic was to push the first race, then cruise race two, three and four and go all out in race 5. I had an amazing start to race 5 but was soon put in my place by everyone (LOL).

All in all whole heartedly recommend these races to anyone who is thinking about them, it is definitely the taking part that brings the enjoyment.

    Many thanks.

    • Neil Rushby says:

I had the same tactic and yes i agree, i was really happy with how it turned out and the amount who did all 5 races. I was worried about some of the time gaps but it seemed to work out just right.

  6. Bodomfall says:

Thanks for organizing this challenge-race-morning. It was a lot of fun and it is nice to see the results allover all races

    • Neil Rushby says:

well done, i wasn’t too far away from you after the whole thing finished but i don’t think i could have gone any harder than i did, or if i did, i’d have probably bonked and lost more than gained.

  7. Kai Hukkanen says:

It was hard going in every race 💯, I put pain gel on my leg in the morning for cramps and it worked well. Now it’s a bit sore and heavy 😄. I ride in all races with Gil.Mad.io and MikeHPLCycling and Karel Sousek and there may have been others but I don’t remember the names, sorry. Everything went to the finish line sprint to the race and it was a really hard ride, I tried to ride full to the end but the guys are strong 💪. Great competition format, thanks for organizing and thanks to everyone. Attention Neil, I didn’t notice the name MikeHPLCycling in the final results?

  8. Silvia says:

I really appreciate you putting in all this effort Neil 🙏. I love this format, I used to organize races like this on Rouvy myself: all rides of a challenge at once, also on flat rides like these. I didn’t expect this outcome, 14th overall 🥳 , I won 1 place after every race 😎. In 2 races I found myself in a group of 8 and worked desperately to hang on on every hill until the finish where we had a full power sprint and I managed to stay in front of the group. Too bad Rouvy froze right on the finishline twice and that cost me some seconds and some places. The 10 minutes between the races gave me exactly enough rest to go fully into every race. I was expecting to feel fatigued at race 4 or 5, but this setting and the familiar names around me just kept me going!
Great to do the challenges together like this and thanks Neil for organizing them. Thanks to you I only have to tell my Rouvy friends about your races instead of organizing them myself 😉. CU all on Tuesday 😃

Thanks for doing this got up at 2am to do all five races was worth hopefully you do another one like this again

    • Neil Rushby says:

no, thank you for getting up at 2am to jump on a Muckers event! i just set these up and hope it works out for some others, but to hear about things like this is just unreal. well done and yes, i will hopefully do this again when the opportunity presents itself

  10. El_Tractor says:

This was real fun! Nice short all out races with some time to recover after each race. I’m superhappy with my 8th place overall. I love the fact that you keep seeing the same names and knowing this is the group to stick with.
I had one embarassing moment…in race 4…there was a second split and I thought it was the finish line 😀 With 2k still to go I didn’t try to go solo, so I had to wait for the group with flushed cheeks. Oops.
Great morning! Thanks for calculating everything Neil, it made me proud to see my name in the top 10.

  11. Noël Van Den Brande says:

Thx Neil to do this all for us. Super well organised and the processing of the results were quite fast in my opinion. Super job 👍🏻👌🏻 I love these races and this one was quite hard 🤪 never done 5 races back to back. I suffered with cramps in round 4 … but I didn’t want to give up 😂 and round 5 was just go to the finish line and celebrate 🍾 😋 I’m looking forward already to the next one 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

    • Neil Rushby says:

hey Noel, thankyou so much for taking the time to comment. It all went really well, the timings were all pretty much perfect to allow everyone who wanted to do all 5 get to the start in time. Race 4 was the only one i also felt it hardest as you knew once you got that one done, the last one could be done at any pace as you were done with the time limits! I will do it again one day…..

  12. Mike says:

Thanks for organizing was a fun event and a great format. Curious why my name doesn’t show up in the results after the 3rd race but either way was worth getting up for at 3am local time!

  13. Dok PS says:

Thanks for the great idea. Couldn’t do the last one for family lunch time reasons. Maybe you start earlier next time? .. 😉 It was interesting to see how the groups in every race formed and developed. And I also realised that the groups worked better together than in single races as everyone had to be as efficient as possible. Thanks for your organisation!

    • Neil Rushby says:

Sorry for the late start….. 😉. shame you couldn’t make the last one as you were very strong on those first 4! 24th place and you missed 1 race! strong riding mucker and thank you for taking the time to comment.

  14. Karel Soušek says:

Final race, final sprint finish. Wanted to only support my teammate originally, but since he had hardware issues and i ended up in the first two races nearby podium, decided to fight for overall rankings. Had to take gel after two races as the sprints were full out efforts. Mike Gavelist, Gil.Mad and Kaihu did massive effort through all races. Awesome racing format, something new i never experienced before. Thank you all who joined!

    • Neil Rushby says:

well done on the win Karel. didn’t know you’d never done this type of format before? we organized the last one when ROUVY did that city challenge, but we didn’t do it as a championship. It was a great morning of racing if i do say so myself.

  15. Andy_UP says:

Used race 3 & 4 as warm-up. Go all out in the short 5th one, hoping the front group would be slightly slower. Started off with 8w/kg, brought me in 2nd place. 1st one must have been surprised he gapped the whole peleton and eased off the power. So I passed him and for a few seconds I was riding first in a Muckers race! That’s been a long time since that happend. So I got in the draft of the front group and see how long I could hold. I had to go deep in the red and on the top of the hill before the last climb, I had to pull over 7w/kg just to stay in the draft, going 1bpm over my max heart rate. That’s not supposed to happen right? So a bit further, I let them go, I knew on the last climb they would go nuts, so I settled for a nice pace. The gap behind was 750m and I had 1.5k to go. So no problem. I had time to wave to all my fans, they knew I was going for top 10 in this race and showed up in great numbers with flags and banners. Really something to go to the line like this.

  16. Galosi says:

Thank you, it was a great match

  17. Mads Grosen says:

First time doing such an event, and it was lots of fun and also quite confusing how my pre mindset, going in HR Z2&3, slowly was climbing up in Z4 the second I stepped on those pedals.🙈 This wasn’t going to be an easy Sunday ride – too many riders to catch when you start out like a Ceed SW KIA and not like a well turned Mustang.
If Neil ever thinks of arranging these kind of events again, I will personally keep it simple by letting go of the breaks from the start to the end.
Thanks Neil for turning my workouts on a Sunday much more interesting.
