Muckers Sunday Socials on Rouvy
Remembering the good old days when Neil and I used to hit the road or the trails with our bikes, those Sunday morning rides held a special place in our cycling journey. Before the era of Rouvy and Muckers Worldwide, our Sunday Social rides were more than just cycling sessions; they were a time to connect, share stories, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow riders.

Back then, our schedules were hectic, and the only time we could sync up for a ride with friends was on Sunday mornings. Weekdays were reserved for solo rides, navigating through our diverse commitments. Those Sunday mornings, however, were sacred. A chance to cover 40+ miles, we talked about everything under the sun – from family to jobs, and of course, cycling.
Our rides weren’t just about the miles; they were about the experience. Halfway through, we’d make a pitstop for coffee, providing the perfect opportunity to recharge and catch up on each other’s lives. Up the climbs, we’d race against each other, only to ease off and wait for the rest to catch up. It was the perfect blend of competition and camaraderie.
Fast forward to the present, and we find ourselves yearning to recreate those Sunday Social rides. Enter Muckers Worldwide on Rouvy. We’ve decided to bring back the essence of our old tradition to the virtual world. Every Sunday, we gather on Rouvy to ride, chat, and socialize just like the good old days.
To make this experience even more engaging, we’ve set up a dedicated “Muckers Sunday Social” chat on Discord. Now, even if the physical miles separate us, we can connect virtually. The plan is simple – it’s your ride, your choice. Whether you want to take it easy, go full throttle, use it for HIIT, or focus on heart rate training, it’s your Sunday, your way.
If you’re a Mucker or a Rouvy rider looking for a community that combines the thrill of cycling with the warmth of socializing, join us on the Discord channel and the Muckers Sunday Social on Rouvy. Let’s pedal down memory lane together and create new traditions in the digital realm.
Sunday Social isn’t just a ride; it’s a celebration of the cycling spirit and the bonds forged on the road, real or virtual. So, gear up, join us, and let’s make every Sunday a memorable one with Muckers Worldwide on Rouvy.

My first Sunday social this morning 11-Feb-2024 and whilst i completely forgot about discord I really enjoyed the ride. Im not as strong as some and my HR was zone 7/6 all the way but I maintained a fair power output for me. Enjoyed riding in a group of about 8 for a good 8mile and finished feeling alive (as opposed to dead!). Ill certainly do another.
Hi, thanks for the comment. We feel we might have created something a little different here. We have to create it as a race so we can all start together, and, get the credit for the challenge. But that’s where the race part ends. So we will be doing a few more of these, especially as the weather improves so at least there’s something organized just in case you don’t manage to get out doors.
…I was in this group among other drivers…I just want to tell you: It was a strong race from you!👍Thanks for taking part😁Greets Slyfly🙋♂️

So, our first attempt at a Sunday Social ride was an interesting experiment. With the way the route was, with all the climbing at the start, it was nice to see a few riders sticking to the 2.5w/kg max or if they went over, they were taking it easy again on the next little flat section. Basically you could still see people on the road and not absolutely blowing!
The discord video chat was very interesting, we watched Andy_UPs hair for a while, and basically everyone else gradually stripping off layers from what looked like freezing cold garages! Even Silvia popped on to say hello before nipping of for Tennis.
Me and Andy got to the top of the climbing, almost in dead last place, then set about getting after the back of the main pack who were a good 1.5-2miles away. ( kinda like you would if you were out on a social and had been dropped on the climb or had a mechanical) I tried my best but Andy did most of the puling and we caught and passed 2 of these riders and kept a nice speed up all the way to the finish. Comments on the WhatsApp afterwards were all pretty much positive with various tales of little races here and there, and no one complaining about being fatigued or over trained. mission accomplished.
Sunday morning, 9:30 a.m. everything was still fine. I thought it would be a relaxing “social ride” together🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️…it was comfortable with Steven, Torben and Chad up the mountain, 700 meters / 12km. Once at the top, the descent began… the ride got faster and faster and (as always) developed into a race.
We overtook a few riders in front of us until we came across another larger group that caused us some problems 😆
In any case, we all drove to the finish line exhausted.🥵
Thank you friends for the “Social RACE”🤣 🙏🙋♂️
While Nielsbrynnum and m-forby were hammering the course to small fast pieces of split times and I was on a mission of doing zone 2&3, I sense the small talk during the “social ride” with my Danish companion were very little on discord. I therefore took the time, and my first virtual opportunity, to greet the Muckers on there discord, which were a blast of fun, at least to the top of the climb where I said goodbye and switch back to my Danish fellows on discord. Thanks guys for the social ride and see you very soon again😉

Sorry the annoyance at it being windier than a badgers bum here in barcelona got the better of me and tghat first climb was perfect to fill in for my lack of much needed climbing training. Great course, great rides but I was so disappointed when Draft man, with whom a perfect 2 up had been formed seemed to have a mechanical just when i thiought we were finally safe form the persuing Nielsbrynnum and m-forby. I¡ve looked but can’t find him on strava to thank him for working so well together. I promise to take it easdy next time, while still contributing on th efront of whichever group I fin myself in. Thanks, as ever, for organising.
Southafro…..I promise, started with the intention of it being a Social Sunday. The first half of the climb I watched some muckers blast past while enjoying a sedate 2,5 w/kg pace with Mr Mucker and a couple others. My missus came to argue with me right at the part where the climb flattened out. When I next looked, I had ridden at the steep part with a bit too much energy/anger, and created a gap which I had to then maintain. Sorry Neil 🙈. The decent became a ride to bow off steam. Off the bike I was calm again. Who says a bike isn’t therapeutic. I’m going to get a Do Not Disturb sticker for my door 😂
Ended sitting this one out, helped the kids in the kitchen with MothersDay preparation that was this Sunday in my part of the world 😅
Wil join next time I’m able + might attempt to set up/join on Discord 🙂
I thought, a social ride, stay with Neil, chat a bit. Nice. Looks like most are lacking the mental strength to stay at 2.5w/kg :p Nonetheless I enjoyed it and the discord video chat was very fun. And on the downhill I could let my inner beast also go with Neil, since we were alone in last positions and we could enjoy the draft.
Guilty as charged Andy😂. I clearly lacked the discipline 🙈. Forgive my ignorance, but what is this “discord chat” ? My dogs get tired of listening to me and my missus is now banned from the bike room 😜, perhaps it’s something our limited Wi-Fi could handle ?!
