MUCKERS ‘The Classics’ Race 2 of 3. 18/05/23

Rouvy Route Used: Challenge Peguera Mallorca | Spain 40 km | 24.85 miles | 1640 ft climbing

Route 3 from the classics challenge | Race 2 in the Mini classics championship

30 Registered | 16 Finishers | 4 DNF | 10 DNS

Just the one Race Tonight. I felt nearly 25 miles and just over 1600 ft of climbing was more than enough for one night and will also allow everyone to focus just on this race and not feel the need to hold something back for a 2nd race. So will the 30 riders who did round 1 turn up for round 2? or At least the top 10? ( hinsbergen, Tuden, Karel, Pimporro, adampel, MikeHagen, nielsbrynnum, Ghostkiller, loki and DaniMuren) Lets see below:

Lets start with a 3.2 mile climb, then a little break for just over a mile, then we hit the climbing again for just over 4 miles! Tough start indeed!

Pimporro_GURE” got the gold today, after spending the whole race in a tussle with 2nd place “karel_sousek_drafting“! Both averaging over 24mph in the process. 3rd place goes to Top Muckers Worldwide rider “MikeHagen” in a bit of no mans land but clear of the pack.

Sprint for 4th saw “nielsbrynnum” just crossing the line in front of 5th placed “alficrist75” Solo finishers seemed to be the order of the day for the next 4 riders with 6th “neminemlaedere“, 7th “cubes“, 8th “yayarecki” , and 9th “DonJulio” coming home with large gaps between them all.

a 3 way Muckers Worldwide fight for the last mention was eventually won by “Chak” just beating someone and someone else 😆

cheers everyone for doing this tough race tonight. hope you enjoyed it.

You are all now allowed to go and buy one of our T-Shirts below! We will know who you are when you place your order and won’t let anyone who didn’t finish top 10 buy one! 😁😉

14th and tired. tried to stay with Jeff up the climbs but i just didn’t have it in me today and had to drop back and rode with roger, hoping he couldn’t see i was struggling! started to feel a bit stronger once the climbing was out of the way and although I’d pulled away from roger, i just wasn’t making any headway into the gap in front. right at the end, i started to close on Kin but it was just too much to get past him after closing the .60 lime gap down to 300 feet!

The start was really hard and I knew that, with the initial climbing, I wouldn’t be with the front group. Sure enough, watched Karel, Pimporro, and KRT-PH pull away. When things settled, I was with nielsbrynnum, alfiocrist75, and neminemlaedere, all riding very strongly. KRT-PH’s avatar suddenly disappeared, a glitch?, and it looked like we four had something to race for: bottom step on the podium! If I were to get it, I needed to get away, because there was no way I was winning a sprint with those four. The decisive move was made by Niels at about 20 km, a very strong surge separated him and me from the other two. Shortly after, I attacked (with my highest 40-second watts of the year so far, as it turned out) and got away from Niels. After that, I was in ITT mode, just watching the action on the Nearby Panel, which was interesting. Pimporro and Karel were head-to-head, with Pimporro getting it. alfiocrist75, and neminemlaedere caught Niels, then neminemlaedere was dropped shortly after. Niels taking the sprint there. There was some action between cubes, yayarecki, and DonJulio as I could see them swapping positions. Very fun race!

At last my sort of route, not too many steep climbs, and apart from the first 4 miles, the hills were short and punchy.Started steadily with Mucker, and was just able to pull away after the first climb, then rode with new, Muckers Worldwide team mate Kin Kwan.We took it in turns drafting each other, until the last 5 miles when I pulled away. Nearly caught Andy Up on the line, but had nothing left in tank by then. Great fun as always thank you for organising.
