MUCKERS TUESDAY RACE DAY. 06/06/24

ROUVY Route Used: Salt River Pass | Wyoming | USA | 15.66 miles | 1167ft

introduction:

First Tuesday Race day in June so we are very interested to see what the numbers look like! We are using quite a “pleasant” little route today from the LOTOJA challenge which is a 15.6 mile slight uphill that just gradually gets steeper the further you go till the last 3 miles which goes into a proper climb. but as its only 1167ft all in, its not gonna be too testing for you guys! We arranged an add-on race after the main 7:05pm race but for everyone else or those who have already done Hackberry route, its a great chance to jump onto one of the workouts that ROUVY have made compulsory to get the Swiss Combi challenge done.

Just for fun, I’ve blended everyone into the position they would have come if we’d have all raced together.

As per usual, lets see how the other start times did on this route:

Proper race for the win tonight which saw “Tuden” just pip “karel_sousek” over the line! These 2 averaging an amazing 24.31mph along this route. Last place on the podium goes to Polish rider “przemokrk” with a very strong ride to also be in the 24mph bracket.

“Simon_Hahnenbruch” claims 4th place in front of fellow German rider “HelmSyerforest” in 5th, “m-forby” comes next in a strong 6th place, then our first NED due to no HR data, which means out next mention goes to “nielsbrynnum” in 8th.

Finishing out a very strong top 10 , and our last 2 mentions comes “RocketRoy” in 9th finishing 20 seconds in front of “DonMatteo_07” who claims 10th and that all important last mention for today.

Well done to you all and I hope you had a great race.

I’m thinking of maybe just doing a reports page for Tuesday nights now rather than the above mentions as I’m getting a feeling no one really cares about the mentions on a Tuesday? if people comment they want me to carry on I will, otherwise I can just do the blog with just the collection of results on a Tuesday and leave it at that? Anyway, let me know in the comments.

Cheers for racing with us and hopefully see you on Thursday for the 1st round of the June championship.

co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

rode as hard as I could for the flat part and hung on as much as I could at the bottom of the climb till it went too steep for my 89kgs to keep up! enjoyed it though and settled into the climb feeling quite happy that I might catch Ste up, but every time I got a little too close, he was off again! shame as I’d have loved to have rode with him up the climb but some people are good team mates and others ………… ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜†Anyway, I stayed in my solo zone and I could see David1951 starting to suffer on his power reading so i just increased it a little bit myself just to turn the screws a bit, and i eventually caught him near the top and tried very very hard to pass at a string rate in the hope he didn’t jump on! if we’d have been in the real world and looked over at me, he would have seen the pain i was putting into my legs as i went past, but luckily the avatar makes it look like your just out for a nice and easy ride up a hill!! ๐Ÿ˜‚ that was a good ride all in.

Wrong choices in this race. I hoped to find a good group to drop me at the bottom of the final climb in a position I could protect. Found myself with guys way stronger than me and all I could do was hang on for as long as possible, finally cracking well before the climb started. I could see a massive group behind, the one I should have joined, saved energy waiting for them to catch but they pretty much ‘ran me over’ in a stampede. In a bad mood with myself for bad decisions I just stomped my way up the hill, ReginaL had some sort of mechanical near the end of the climb enabling me to catch up but I decided not to contest a sprint finish and just ‘called it a day’.

All day long at Football business summit which started yesterday. Rested more than im used to, but with little sleep due opening party i was not feeling well, however having two days without activity would be terrible. Good race lineup, flat course with little hill at the end. We got there with group of eight, nice to see Simon back! Podium finish between Tuden, przemokrk and me. It turned out legs could produce solid power and im very glad for 2nd place. Thank you all who joined, very good race!

Finally returning to the main race, after two laps of 2early4me with a few friends, in this race I placed myself in a good group, I tried to always stay in the front positions, and in the end I tried to keep a good w/kg for the finale . I wasn’t able to keep Kyle’s wheel, I thought I would stay with Loudford but perhaps he had spent a lot of energy in the first part. I thought I’d catch up on Ogee but I was almost behind. Furthermore, in the last km the increasingly close presence of boogybill70 kept me always on alert… a very havy training ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘‹

I had read the script before the race and tried to keep with the group doing 3W/kg. Trouble is if you are at the front of the group you need to be doing a fair bit more than 3. Luckily most took turns and it made the flat bit easier. Then came the hill and the group broke up a bit, Rens Picavett chasing me into 18th place.
