MUCKERS MAY CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL RACE. 30/05/24

ROUVY Route Used: Challenge St. Polten | Austria 40 Km | 24.02miles | 1220ft climbing.

Introduction.

Last round of this months championship is here and as numbers have dropped off, we’ve guessed that 2 decent results is all you might need to still get top 50 and get onto that World championship leader board!! Those of us who need to get some good results in for the world championship need to make these quieter months pay off as we will soon be battling just to get into the top 50 once autumn time comes and those outdoor riders start coming back!

We have a nice route tonight from the challenge family challenge. The main hill/climb happens early on then its a down hill and some kickers to the end. I much prefer this type of route rather than the climb at the end when I’m spent!! 😆.

Usual 4 extra start times for a championship night so lets see how those riders faired first!

Only 39 starters tonight so all will get stats checked, as will all the riders in the other start times. Lets see who gets a NED and allows some bumps in places for those below, but still in decent points places! Top 10 mentions only tonight due to under 50 on the start line, so lets see whos getting mentioned:

“Tuden” wins a massive sprint for 1st place for the Muckers Worldwide Team! we have Championship leader “BareRemi” in 2nd and strong British rider “breers33” completing the podium. “Stefan_Schmidt” gets a strong 4th, the return for “lrollin” gets a very impressive 5th, just in front of “karel_sousek” in 6th.

7th place mention goes to “przemokrk” who just pips “RocketRoy” in 8th, then the final 2 mentions of the night go to “hinsbergen” in 9th and in 10th place, the 2nd Muckers Team rider in the top 10, “nielsbrynnum”

Well done to you all but I bet most just want to see if they got top 50 in the championship, and where exactly did they finish so i will stop typing, get the scores all boxed away and get the championship table attached to the blog asap.

FINAL STANDINGS FOR MAY 2024 CHAMPIONSHIP:

Well done “BareRemi” !! even with a winners weight ballast of 2.5%, you still managed to win this month. You now get another 1.5% to add you your ballast so can you really do it again next month??? 2nd place goes to “Stefan_Schmidt” who finally sees the podium and gets a 1% ballast now for the rest of the year, then a very consistent run from “Karel_sousek” gets him 3rd place and an extra 0.5% ballast to add to his total.

Well done to you all for getting top 50, it was definitely the easiest month we’ve had to do so, and we suspect we will have a few more while we wait for those who have gone to the outdoors to come back at some point, so if you’re like me, now is the time to get the goooooooood points in for the World Championship!!

Neil Rushby

co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

i had a rubbish race, but an enjoyable ride…. if that makes sense. consistency in each race helped me get 11th in the championship. im usually struggling to get into the top 50 so this is an amazing result but really only down to less participants and being at every race, more than suddenly getting very strong. But, its a year long championship so slow and steady might just do it

I had missed an appointment on Thursday due to a fever, and this time I couldn’t miss it even if my work meant I had to miss the main race.
First time competing in the 2early4me, in the end few friends, little draw but I still managed to get nervous 🤣. Pedaled alone for 14.5 km, I catch a rider, wait for him, pull him and see if he collaborates to finish the route… well always behind, sometimes alongside and never once to take over, well what can I say? Not a Muckers spirit of sure. In the end I decide in the last 3 km to play mirror, until he suddenly wakes up and wants to beat me… knock knock, have you made 🦈 nervous? well you lost the sprint 💪🤣.
I forgot, I was right that he didn’t have the Muckers spirit… and in fact he is a NED 😜🤙

Thrilling race in Austria, wrapping up month of May. This time with decent climb right after start, so it was clear proper warm is needed, otherwise one would be dropped early. Exactly that happened and i had to produce best 5min in last month to stay in front. The evidence that it was blast, is fact, that i got little cramps to both legs. We distanced strong riders like Chris or przemokrk, shooting star in Rouvy races.

Cramps were lurking all the way up, because hungry Baremi was repeatedly attacking. Guess problems related to the fact i did drink almost norhing after running before race. So i depleted all water i had in bottles, hoping it will be enough to stay in front. Second group was closing gap, but we had situation under control. Finish sprint i did my best but if can’t get over 600w i can hardly beat anyone. Very exciting race, thank you all who joined!

Final race in June and studying the standings. RaTim is three point ahead. I need to beat him by two positions, but I know he’s looking at the standings too and is *not* giving it too me! Also see that Tuden is behind me because he missed a race. Assuming he wins again, to stay ahead I need to be, what? 15th? Not easy! And did Andy_UP manage to scheme a replacement for his broken trainer? Hoping so, but he ended up missing the race. And what a race it was. Rocket start and got as high as fourth. Saw MatthiasHeil doing his usual first place for a few seconds thing. Good to see. Relaxed for the early climb then, then, at the bottom, dropped my chain! Was able to pedal it back on, happily. On the climb, settled in with TTT mates RaTim and Svard. We caught a group that included SillySilNL, but she wasn’t able to grab our wheels. That was a bummer. Over the hill into the rollers, we were hammering pretty good. I might have done most of the pulling, but Ard and Tomas would shoot up, I’d shoot back, and we kept our speed up. Staying ahead of the group behind, not really losing ground from the group ahead. Into the last 500 m, Ard is going to throw down more watts than I’m capable of, which he did, but can I stay ahead of Tomas? Yes! but only, by 0.1 second! And 15th! So 5 points more than Tomas’ 16th, and enough to get ahead of him in the June standings–if there were no NEDS. And also enough to stay ahead of Tuden. It was a good day.
