MUCKERS TUESDAY RACE DAY. 20/02/24

ROUVY Route Used: Cheddar Gorge | Babble Ride Across Britain | 20.29miles | 1384ft climbing.

2EARLY4ME RACE RESULT:

Comfortable win for Mucker “Southafro” with no Moon-Riders around for competition, then unfortunately we don’t have any more mentions due to the next 4 riders being NEDs. Remember friendship AND heart rate data needed to get a mention! But we now have a time to aim for and under an hour looks a very strong time indeed!

Superb racing route this, with a nice flat-ish first half, then the climb, then it rolls about a bit into a short downhill sprint with a tiny kick up over the line. What’s not to love! “Alieno79” won with quite a nice gap to “JJRobinson” who’s been gone a while so was nice to see him back! Just behind, and maybe not as happy as us to see 2nd place back for a race, came “karel_sousek” in a classy 3rd place, just in front of 4th place “Gil.Mad.io”

We then have a gap of just under 2 minutes before a flurry of riders come through. A great 5th place for “hinsbergen”, “pasjordi60” in 6th then “adampel” in a very nice 7th place! Swiss rider “Pfeffer” comes over the line in 8th, with Mucker “nielsbrynnum” very close behind in 9th, then rounding out the top ten comes our regular Aussie Rider “andy_emmo” with a very strong rode to 10th place.

RocketRoy” gets a nice 11th place on his return back to racing, “lrollin” nice and steady in 12th followed by regular strong rider “m-forby” in 13th. A few seconds later comes “leonelcunha” then we wait a minute for “Grochang” in 15th just in front of fellow Mucker “batbuilder” in 16th. A Nice race for 17th sees “Dok_PS” just get it in front of “tranberg” and it looks like an average speed of 22.59mph was just enough to get into the last 2 mention places tonight with “Lyndon65” getting awarded 19th just in front of American powerhouse “Guthinger_Mike” Well done guys.

Just 3 NEDS in the top 20 tonight which shows that if you are in positions 21-25 in the race, keep pushing as you just never know how many NEDs are in front of you and you might just get a mention!!.

Thank you to everyone who jumped on this. Hope you enjoyed it and had a great race or training session. Finish position is only important if that’s what your aim was. otherwise a race for 65th is just as much fun as a race for 18th, or a nice zone or power training session is a great reward and gets you ready for the next race!

Also thanks to everyone who have already filled out the questionnaire on the blog, its been really insightful and great to know how everyone see’s things and there thoughts. If you haven’t already completed it, please pop on and fill it out for us, especially if you have any feelings on how we can improve things.

That’s it, you know the rest about comments and merchandise, so we will see you Thursday for the Championship race ( plus another ride afterwards to help complete one of the current challenges )

High intensity efforts in Muckers race, who would not love it? Running warm up as slow as possible to keep as much energy as possible for the race. Profile looks easy, but with all big guns it is always super hard. Just like today, long flat section, where big group formed, while Wyverns went into brave solo breakaway, but was cought under the foot of the uphill section.

Alieno, Gilmad, Chris and James with me in the front. Alieno was the strongest, we formed group with Gilmad and James. Profil still little uphill, very painful and i got cramps twice to both legs. Hopefully could stay with folks. Bronze medal, as James had great sprint, while Gilmad did not sprint. Perfect race, thank you all who joined!

Nice training competition, planned around 2.5/3.0 w/kg. Training in three phases, first stretch a beautiful and large compact blue group up to the first climb. Then we split up a bit but regrouped once again. I joined SlyFly and Rens. We worked well, even if on the last climb my two partners exceeded the planned w/kg. Last descent I tried to push to mend things and let’s say I did a long final sprint 🤣 of 1.5 km I think… recovered on Rens and almost on the line with Andreas…. entered the 50th. Agv 2.79 w/kg. Greetings everyone.

  3. Batbuilder says:

It all happened in the gorge.. I got with a good group and we started to work our way through the field, only to be passed by RocketRoy living up to his name just before the gorge. In the gorge everything changed- Max power but although I passed quite a few people I couldnt hold on to leonelcunha or Grochang and they slowly edged away. I couldnt relax as there was a group a couple of hundred meters back who would have easily passed me if I slowed down to leisure pace. 16th was my best postion for a long time.😁

  4. Lyndon Wright says:

Top race and thanks guys for putting it on. First race in a while and pleased how it went Got in with a good group near the end Guthinger mike, owni.d, and chorus. which ended in a all out sprint. Thanks again till the next time

  5. Steven Ludford says:

This wasn’t a profile where I could do well against the leaders of our Farnham Championship, so I opted into the 2.5w/kg peloton that was being suggested. Knowing three of the Farnham riders normally ride at that power I sent word for them to join the group and it worked perfectly, everyone rode to keep the group together all the way to the village of Cheddar, a place I know very well. Arriving at the climb ‘fresh’ I was able to power up much stronger than normal and surprised, due to the 2.5 race start, to be riding amongst my usual competitors, Mucker ‘Mikeee73’ was a big help on the false flat as we shared turns for a while but I was running out of energy and, despite being tantalisingly close to my big Farnham foe ‘Gunnera’, I had to ease off on the descent and protect what I had. Another enjoyable night racing.

The God-of-tech is not with the brave hearted…It is too bad I cannot insert a meme-pic here with somekind of skeleton labelled: “me, waiting for a muckers race where I dont miss the start, my legs are in good condition, no tech problem with the bike”
    😀
But anyway, I liked this one it finally shows, that if there is a good flat route, I can go with the blue team, even I can lead on downhills. The story is of course different when the massive wall arrives.
On this ride I averaged 227Watts which is far the best in the last few weeks/months and it is a 2.7W/kg for me.
It was nice to meet Mikey3R again around the big hill, he is the one who seems to be at the same weight, and strength level as myself. We could have been going together till the finish line if my chainwheel wouldn’t spit down the chain two times at 18miles.

  7. Rocket Roy says:

I was intending to ride this easy with the main Muckers train so set off really easy. I couldn’t see any of them on the riders list so assumed they were in front of me and I speeded up. After passing a few riders I still could not see the Muckers train so I went into full-on time trial mode and just smashed out 300W to the finish to see how high I could place. I didn’t work with anyone and just held max watts as I reeled in group after group. The visual cue of riders in front of me was like a carrot to this old donkey and helped get the best out of me. Looks like I have recovered from the food poisoning on our Tenerife training camp last week where I set the 7th fastest time from the top of Mount Teide to Playa de Las Americas and also caught and passed the Bora Hansgrohe team climbing Teide.

  8. Chris Helmbold says:

Southafro :2early4me race was a bit lacklustre without 🚀 Roy’s heat signature to chase or CerveloKevins scorched tyre marks to follow. Not feeling particularly strong, I tried to maintain a decent pace through the rolling flats, and give it horns on the “ups” without going to deep.
I have begun turning off Netflix and watching the main races and I am jealous to see such fierce and exciting competition between all the participants. The fast fellas are super strong and unrelenting, they hardly ever get off the throttle (tuden is a beast) among others. You are inspirational to the rest that follow, keep it up please, because if you “BLOW” I will pass you for that mention 😉. You guys are making me faster. Thanks to all especially the Muckers !!

  9. Mike Hagen says:

My plan was to ride to Cheddar with the 2.5 W blue Mucker convoy, then attack the Cheddar Gorge climb and carry on at 3 W/kg+ to the finish. See how that worked. I’ve been feeling a bit stronger and more energetic the past couple weeks, maybe this would be a good test. The blue convoy was a lot of fun! Moving up and down through the group, seeing where everyone was, helping to keep things together, was really nice. Deffo need to do more of that. Past Cheddar, I took off on my own into the Gorge, hunting down riders ahead. Did the climb 20 seconds faster than the GRC race last month–a good sign! Over the rollers at the top of the course, closing in on one last group {noncon, Hoppytherocket, and A.wool), 150 m back, and I dropped my chain! Got that sorted before the group I’d just passed caught me again, and the adrenaline rush probably helped on the 3 km downhill to the finish. Averaged 3.8 W/kg after Cheddar, not far from that 4 number, pleased with that. Kudos to all who rode this course!

  10. Neil Rushby says:

we had arranged a nice Muckers 2.5min train for the first 10 miles and it was going amazingly well until i had a glitch that knocked me back a good 300ft! Mike dropped back for me, as did Ste and we were soon back with the pack. I was gutted when we hit the climb and we all broke up but that was the plan. i was able to stay around 3.0 then kinda stuck to Andy_ups pace over the rollers and to the finish line, breaking the draft early of the guys we were with so it wasn’t a sprint over the line. really enjoyed that.

  11. Niels Brynnum says:

Raceplan, – try to stay in front group as long as possible 😅 without destroying the legs completely 🚴‍♂️. I got dropped on one of the smaller hills and found myself in a bit of no man´s land. I managed to catch super strong Pfeffer 💪💪and my Danish mate Tranberg, who also like Pfeffer seemed to have power legs 💪💪 but shortly after it became a duo Pfeffer 💪💪 and myself. We worked really well together and caught up with strong rider andy_emmo 💪💪. A super trio, we needed to push hard as the wolf pack 💪💪RocketRoy, Lrollin, m-forby and leonelcunha was chasing our tails. We lost andy_emmo, at the end and super strong Pfeffer claimed the victory in our small trio battle.

  12. Tomáš Hloušek (RaTim) says:

Apologies to everyone who passed me by, Icouldn’t help. I have only tried to hold in. Definetelly it was not a good idea to drive 2 routes at full throttle in one day.
I finished my first year on TACX & ROUVY last Friday. Level 74, FTP shift from 200 to 250 approximately, lost 20kgs.
But the best thing was probably that on 26.11. 2023 I signed up for the Mucker’s Sunday social ride. Since then I try to participate in all the rides. You are perfect community. Great thanks to all.
The only thing that makes me sad, is no report from 2.11.2023. I’ve nearly died to finnished 20, and no report …😥😂🤣🤣.
I’m looking forward to Thursday’s race.

  13. Kyle Goodram says:

On Tuesday night’s ride/race, the pace was a bit faster than I preferred. We aimed to complete the 20-mile, 1300-ft route with the Cheddar Gorge climb in 1 hour 10 mins. Starting at 2.9 w/kg, we pushed to 3+ on the climb. During my front turn in the Muckers train, only 4 of us tackled the climb; some faced technical issues. Despite my chain slipping at the climb’s start, I pushed with S. Ludford close behind. I caught up to Jeff65 and DolphWader, sticking together till the end. Well done, everyone—this was tougher than expected. Next up is the championship downhill, where I’ll likely be dead last! 😁
