Muckers Worldwide Racing Regulations and Requirements

Race Report Rules

Dear Racer,

We appreciate your continued support and enthusiasm for Muckers Worldwide cycling races. Over time, we’ve seen incredible growth and engagement within our community. To ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of our events, we’ve established the following rules, effective from October 2023, for all championship events and riders aiming to secure a mention in our results:

Rule 1: FRIENDSHIP

In the pursuit of maintaining a level playing field and providing accurate race results and insights, we kindly request that all participants either accept or send a friend request to Muckers Worldwide (Mucker1974). This isn’t about accumulating friends for the sake of it, but rather a practical means for us to access your race statistics promptly.

Once we begin compiling the race report blog, our focus is entirely on delivering content to our community. Waiting for friend requests to be accepted during this crucial period is impractical. Therefore, we urge participants to establish this connection beforehand. It’s a simple step that greatly assists us in delivering accurate and timely results.

Rule 2: HEART RATE DATA

We recognize the importance of assessing your performance in a meaningful way. To achieve this, we rely on heart rate data as a key metric. This data provides valuable insights into your effort, allowing us to distinguish between legitimate performances and anomalies caused by technical issues or setup errors.

For example, if you’ve delivered an impressive power output but your heart rate remains unusually low, it prompts further investigation to ensure fairness and accuracy. Conversely, matching a high power output with an appropriately elevated heart rate enhances the credibility of your performance.

No heart rate data, however, leaves us with a significant gap in assessing your effort accurately. We strongly encourage participants to include heart rate data as it not only contributes to fair competition but also aids in personal training insights.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

Please be aware that failure to adhere to these rules, as outlined above, may result in disqualification (NED – Not Enough Data) from our race reports on the Muckers Website. We value the integrity of our races and the trust of our participants, and these rules have been implemented to uphold these standards.

In conclusion, these rules – FRIENDSHIP and HEART RATE – have been introduced with the aim of maintaining a fair and enjoyable racing experience for all participants. We understand that our races are a leisurely pursuit for many, but we remain committed to ensuring fairness, accuracy, and growth within our community.

We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to continuing this exciting journey with Muckers Worldwide.

Best regards,

Muckers Worldwide Cycling Team

co-founder of muckersworldwide.com and race organizer! Been into cycling since a kid and spent most of the time on BMX and mountain bikes. Took me longer than most to get the road cycling bug but I was bitten around 5 years ago when I finally got a fully fledged road bike that fitted and I let the flat handled road bike go...

In every group There are The rules, is correct also in Muckers worldwide group there are.
We are all Friends and I accept whitout problems 💪🤙

Thank you. we are only applying this to the championship events and those that get a special mention. that’s all. everyone can still race and they will show up on the official ROUVY leaderboard as per usual, just wont be on here.

  3. I’m not a regular participant so I’m not sure it’s appropriate for me to comment, but wouldn’t it also make sense to make the races “smart trainer only”. Same logic…

    • robi_nagy says:

yep. But still, all these rules will not ensure nobody uses eg an ebike, or what about a valid weight…?
Anyway the direction is fine, and the aim is to build a confidence within the community.

The thing is Muckers Worldwide are not stopping anyone from entering the races, all they are doing in just making sure the results are fair before they post the results on the website. Muckers Worldwide don’t want to restrict races to smart trainers only because its a large financel investment. The weight issue is more trust. My weight on Rouvy is 167lbs but can fluctuate between 169 and 165 so using weight is probably going too far.

Was going to write the same Kyle, All i will add is when its 10;30pm at night and we just want to enjoy writing the race report, we wanted find the easiest and quickest way to show we are at least trying to keep everything as fair as possible.

I believe Muckers Races have very few incidents of riders taking deliberate or accidental ‘unfair’ advantage and we identify unusual calibration or performance quite well.
As the races attract more riders it is appropriate to set these rules. If a rider seeks any form of acknowledgement for their efforts to finish above another rider in a race situation it is important to be able to demonstrate a reasonable level of fairness to the other riders, a heart rate monitor combined with other existing visible metrics is a simple but useful method to identify irregular performance.
It won’t necessarily spot minor discrepancies that riders may seek to take unfair advantage, but in these situations the rider is just fooling themselves.
Above all, it needs to be fun to take part and fun to organise. A HR monitor assists the race organisers, so they are not in the uncomfortable position of listing or praising race results for riders with large gaps in their data which may (or may not) mask lower performance, and ultimately, this data should only require random access until a riders ‘expected range’ is familiar.
I take the view that each race will have a Rouvy results table for ‘All Riders’ and a MuckersWorldwide results table for ‘Verified Riders’ and every rider has the option to follow the rules or not and decide which results table satisfies their personal preference.

Fully support also. While one can say that folk pay their money and should have their fun, when it comes to leaderboards and winners it’s important to have a level playing field. Especially a transparently level playing field. I think this Muckers Worldwide approach is balanced and fair, and I hope it has the desired affect.

  6. Mariusz Leszczyński says:

I support such principles. I have nothing to hide and I think that the transparency of the player is a good direction in fair competition.

  7. Minyana says:

Muy bien es lo correcto si se compite….otra cosa es dar un paseo.
En mi opinión solo deberían participar rodillos inteligentes… pues si no lo son… dan datos irreales aunque sea de forma involuntaria.

hi, thank you for your comments. we really don’t want to go down the smart trainer only route as that’s just not what we are about. We are a worldwide community trying to make this on line training as fair for each person as possible. There is no simple answer but being friends costs nothing, and a hr sensor is a lot cheaper than insisting everyone is on a smart trainer, and a hr sensor will help with your training goals. win-win if you look at it in the right context.

  8. Gazinho says:

Doh! first race no HR monitor, at least I managed the friend request….

  9. Patryk says:

Sunday race. starts as usual, strong enough to be close to the leading competitors. I ride with Kaihu for a while, but I realize that I have no chance of keeping the wheel. anyway, Kai wins the race with an amazing time. for the first 15-20 km. I manage to maintain the power in the range of 4-5 w/kg. then I lose strength. the thoughts begin: “will I be able to do it?” we cover most of the route in a small group of 2-4 people, the composition of which changed. towards the end I was driving alone. I was really tired. I miss training a bit. on the one hand, I have a new job and no bike, and on the other hand, I am still recovering from a heel injury. It’s a pity that the next start is only in 2 weeks. and this is because of work. Kudos to everyone who fought that Sunday morning

  10. Jeff Hodgson says:

Perhaps I’m missing something, but could you be more explicit in what you mean by “accept or send a friend request”? Is this beyond joining the club or following Neil, and if so, what exactly do I need to do? Thanks!

    • HalAir says:

Jeff, you can add friends in Rouvy, send “Mucker1974” a friend request (or accept his friend request)
I dont recall exactly where that is done right now due to interface change, but same also apply for connect via Strava 🙂

    • Neil Rushby says:

Hi, if you cant find me on ROUVY under Mucker1974, then leg me know your ROUVY name and i will send you a friends request myself then hopefully you will find it. otherwise just message me on Strava to let me know who you are and i can make a note of it as I’ve only just started to use Strava as a way to check data. hope this helps.

      • Jeff says:

Great, Neil. I’ve searched high and low and can’t seem to find where to make friend requests on Rouvy. I’m “FlyingPastor” if you can work it from your end on Rouvy. Easy enough to follow you on Strava, but Rouvy has me baffled!

        • Neil Rushby says:

Hi, found you so i’ve sent you a request. it’s really hard to find now as its inthe old my.rouvy.com section where you find your racing diary etc etc. So, if you go to races, then hit create race,( you dont have to actually creat a race, i just find its the easiest way to get from the new rouvy to the old) it’ll take you to my.rouvy.com and if you hit the 3 lines at the top right, you will see messages. you might also see other info you didn’t realise was there as well!

        • Silvia says:

Do you know the ‘old’ Rouvy website where you can see your diary and can see your statistics on a route? There’s on option Friends under your username at the top. There you can accept friendship requests or send requests. Hope you find it 👍
