MUCKERS TUESDAY RACE DAY. 30/04/24

ROUVY Route Used: Tour Of The Alps 2024 | Stage 3 – Schwaz | 15.07 miles | 2470ft Climbing

INTRODUCTION:

Tuesday Race day and we are back in the Alps for quite a tough little route with 2 long climbs. We use the race format so we can all schedule this into our training programme and have a regular start time. We only use the “Race” format in name only though on Tuesdays, Yes you can race if you fancy it, the top guys will always be up for that, but the rest of us use it as training or recovery so we are ready for the full on Race that is Thursdays championships.

So no points tonight, and mentions are for Sprint winners and the top 3, but remember if you are in the main race, you only get the mention in “print” if you aren’t a NED!

4 start times on Tuesdays so lets see how everyone did.

A win for Muckers Worldwide team rider tonight with “Tuden” finishing with almost a 20 second gap to 2nd place “karel_sousek” who himself had a gap of over a minute to American rider “nelsonsnyder” Well done to these strong riders on a superb performance!

Seems the top 10 were all quite spread out or didn’t want to wait for the line to make a move so i had to scroll to 11th place before I saw my first close finish so well done to “batbuilder” for the Muckers showing how it’s done!

13th and we have another English Mucker winning a 2 way sprint and this time it’s “boogybill70” Well done!

“Loki72” gets the next sprint mention for his 2 way win for 18th!

Next up is my Favorite Volvo driving, photo taking and kings cake delivering Female rider: “SillySilNL” for her “muckers only” sprint off for 28th place!

And with that, the 34th rider crosses the line and we have no more sprints to report. Well done to all that finished, and well done to you guys above for winning the sprint as well.

Thanks everyone for the continued support, and especially those who read this to the very end and post comments. appreciate it.

hopefully see you on Thursday for the championship Race!

Planned only to race the first 8 km of flat, so worked hard to stay in the front group 🥵, even did some ‘pulling’ (more accidental, shooting past the group, trying to stay with the group 🤣). Then did the hills at 2.5-3.0 W/kg. Glad Mike Hagen waited on the first hill and sticked by me. We worked like a perfect couple on the downhills and ended in a photo finish sprint 🤪 that got me this nice ‘Flanders’ mention 😉

Those climbs were a real test today. Trying to keep a steady pace at the start of them and not going for it and burning out is a real challenge. On the second climb Cuna pulled away at the start of the climb but I kept plodding on and eventually at the final crest manage to catch him. Then the long decent, in which once you have reached the 72 KM/h limit you might as well go and have a rest before the last final flat bit which ended up in a sprint finish.

SillySilNL’s plan to stick with the lead group for the first 8 km then relax sounded good to me, so I was in. So fun! I had a silly grin on my face the whole way to the first climb. Then sat up and let them go.

Another great Muckers ride. The plan was to go gently, having already raced at lunchtime on Tuesday. I saw a bunch of Muckers’ shirts ahead so pushed a bit harder to catch up. I pushed along behind Batbuilder and then we scooped up Mads (Grochang). I’d had another great ride with Mads on Sunday morning so decided to work together with him once again. We rode well as a group but eventually Batbuilder pushed on to chase down Cuna. Mads and I stayed together right until the end. Neither of us wanted to beat the other across the line, so we ended up getting slower over the last 200m. I can’t take credit for winning a sprint – I think Mads hit the brakes at the last moment!
