Muckers Tuesday 7pm Race Night WTCNZH R6 24/01/23
“feelslikemonday” master class
Rouvy route used: Christchurch to Sheffield | New Zealand
registered: 28 | 2 dnf | 4 dns | 22 Placed

24 Racers lines up for this one, all looking for a nice result up the 28.5 mile gradual uphill in New Zealand, Route 6 of the Winter Training Camp | New Zealand | HARD challenge on Rouvy. It soon settled in to a few packs of riders all drafting and just trying to stay with the pack you were with and hoping not to get dropped and then stuck in no mans land ( that horrible solo place where you can’t catch the group in front and the group or rider behind isn’t catching you, or home as I like to call it!)
“feelslikemonday” completed the route in a very impressive 1 hour, 10 minutes and 1 second, showing just what a strong rider the Spaniard is. (I wonder how he came up with the name?) “hinsbergen” and “adampel” came home 48 seconds later to take 2nd and 3rd, pretty much crossing the line together. These two always end the race very close and I suspect the team mates work together a lot, but it proved only good enough for silver and bronze on this occasion.
Best of the Muckerworldwide riders was also the top placed Brit “DonJulio” with a very strong 7th place. we also had another top 10 placer with “Andy_UP” claiming the10th spot just before “Chak” who just pipped “mgk1971” over the line in a very close finish.
My race finished in 15th place, after luckily spending the who ride getting pulled along by “Kylofski“. We caught “Shrek-1970-Challenger” quite early on and he stayed with us for the whole route, eventually outsprinted me right at the end to claim 14th. I was just happy/relived to not get dropped like “Rens_Piccavent” who stayed with us for a good while but then just couldn’t keep the pace and ended up 10 minutes behind us at the end. This really proves what a draft specific route this was, as once you were dropped or on your own, you were always going to drop further! ( unless you are called “feelslikemonday” )
Thanks to everyone for having a go on this, its really heartwarming seeing a lot of the same names and the variety of nationalities coming together on my Muckers events and hopefully everyone enjoys the racing.
see you at the next one….

What if “feelslikemonday” was named “felt like friday”. He may have finished even faster.
Nice recap!
“Kylofski“, “Rens_Piccavent”, and “Muckers1974”,
This is what is great about the “MUCKERS” we all linked up and had a great pace line to the finish, Chapeau!!! You never know how that sprint for the “who buys the round” will go… Neil, I thought you were making the BIG MOVE. So I had to kick in the Supercharger🍻
Rounds on me at the “Nine Hammers Tavern”,
Shrek-1970…”Sean”
hi Sean, the thought did cross my mind to knock it down a few gears and spin up and see but the whole race was an effort for me. I tried to Kick a few miles from the end just to test but I hardly got away and then struggled to jump back on when you guys caught and passed me so I knew then I didn’t have a sprint finish in the legs! This Time…….
Nice recap on the worst race i did in months 😀
Thanks Rens, it was a tough route and one not to get dropped on as the constant uphill never gave you a rest, so once you did, it was almost like stopping and the gap grew within a blink of an eye.
